What is Sun Damage?

Excessive exposure to sun can have many long-lasting effects on your skin. One of the most visible effects of sun damage on skin is the presence of age spots. These concentrations of skin pigment are essentially unevenly distributed tan. The flat, brownish patches appear on areas of the body most often exposed to the sun – especially the face, hands, arms, neck, ‘V’ of the chest.

Your skin may also become thinner, duller, and less flexible. Sun damage can reduce your skin’s ability to produce collagen that help your skin bounce back after stretching and folding. The result will be more visible wrinkles, especially fine wrinkles.

Sun damage can also result in an increased frequency of moles and actinic keratoses, a small, rough, raised area of skin. Both moles and keratoses can develop into skin cancer.

At Premier Laser & Skin Clinic, Our skin specialist will assess your skin and determine which features of sun damage. Then we will prescribe you a treatment plan which normally combines of a course of treatments that is best suited to you.

What causes Sun Damage?

Sun damage is caused by the skin being overexposed to the sun. Whether you are in a hot country or a cold environment, your skin is still exposed to UV rays which damage the skin.

By wearing a high SPF sunscreen every day you can prevent sun damage.
