Laser hair removal is a common treatment that men undertake on a regular basis. Traditionally, men did not care about their looks at all but the modern man is seen more and more as a well groomed individual.

Laser hair removal is one of the most popular treatments that a man can have to remove unwanted hair. In many cases, men decide to shave their chests or their backs and shoulders to get rid of the course black hair that grows there on a regular basis. However, this not only uses up a lot of time but it also cost you money in the long run.

With a laser hair removal course of six treatments, your hair is guaranteed to be lighter and thinner than ever before. Men may also decide to have the laser hair removal treatment on their face or on their legs.

Many swimmers like to be streamlined and hair removal is a big part of this process; if you are a swimmer you could benefit from the results of laser hair removal treatments.

It is very important that if you decide to have laser hair removal, you find a reputable clinic that has dealt with treating men as well as women; you should look out for their certificates and find out what equipment they use; you should also make sure they use the state of the art technology to conduct their laser hair removal procedures. You may want to do some previous research online so you know what to look for when it comes to asking about the kind of technology that the laser hair removal clinic uses. This makes you appear clued up and the clinic should supply all the information you need without bother.

So what are you men waiting for? By finding your local laser hair removal clinic today, you will start treating your unwanted hair in an effective way. The procedure is quick and easy and virtually pain-free – it is far less painful than having wax strips applied to you and having them ripped off! Many people ask is laser hair removal permanent, although this not always guaranteed it can be the case for some people.

Prep your Skin for Winter

With the winter season falling upon us, it’s time to get a game plan in place for what you will do to ensure top care of your skin. Many people don’t even think about changing their skin care regime as the winter rolls around but if you hope to maintain your skin’s appearance, it’s a must that you consider making some adjustments.

The harsh winter climate is going to present a number of additional challenges or your skin so if you aren’t taking those into account, don’t be surprised when your complexion looks less than radiant.

Let’s have a brief look at what you need to know.

Keep Applying SPF

The very first thing that you must keep doing is making sure to continually apply your SPF cream. Even though the weather isn’t hot doesn’t mean you won’t be exposed to UV radiation, so you still need to be taking that into account.

Lather up each morning before you go out and you can rest assured you’re protected.

Get A Good Moisturizer

Next, you should also look into getting a good moisturizer as well. You want a very intensive deep moisturizer that comes complete with vitamin E, which can help your skin retain moisture better as well.

During the drying winter months, you will notice your skin getting flakier and losing its lustre, so using the right moisturizer can help assure you retain as much moisture as possible.

Avoid Very Hot Water

Moving along, also be sure that you avoid the use of very hot water when cleansing your face each morning or taking a shower. Hot water is incredibly drying to the skin, so if you’re regularly turning up the temperature, you’ll be digging yourself deeper into the dehydrating and drying hole.

In addition to avoiding hot water, also be sure that you are drinking enough water as well. Remember that maintaining adequate hydration will also be imperative to keeping your skin looking and feeling its best.

Aim to drink at least 8, if not 10 glasses of water each day.

Consider A Trip To A Spa

Finally, you might also want to consider taking a trip to the spa or salon as well. These can provide a great way to help enhance your skin through a wide variety of different skin treatment methods.

Some of the top treatment methods to consider include sublative treatment, Laser pigmentation Removal, vascular vein removal, green peels, advance skin peels, and dermaroller.

All of these will help to improve the skin tone and completion, clearing away skin impurities and helping you get back to looking your best again.

So be sure that you give some consideration to what you’re doing for your skin this winter. If you aren’t taking the time to figure out a plan of action to combat the winter elements, you are going to be hit hard and doing damage control shortly. Take pro-active steps to improve the look and feel of your skin starting now and you won’t have to worry about this.

Treat Acne Scars and Stretch Marks With Sublative Rejuvenation

Acne Scarring

You take a look in the mirror. Yes you think, that spot that has been taking up residency on the left side of your face for the last week or so has finally packed its bags and left. Your delightment is soon cut short however when you realise that even though the spot has gone it has left behind a mark in the form of a scar.

The thing is even without picking and squeezing, acne lesions can leave behind scars due to the intense collagen damaging skin inflammation with which they are associated.

There are 2 main types of acne scars:

1. Raised Acne Scars: These types of scars are raised out of the skin.

2. Depressed Acne Scars: The most common type these types of acne scars indent into the skin

Raised acne scars consist of :

Hypertrophic Scars:

Confined to the original outbreak area. These scars can be very itchy and cause discomfort and pain.

Keloid Scars:

These are larger and are not confined to the outbreak. Keloid scars can be itchy and uncomfortable. You will most likely find these types of acne scars on darker skinned individuals.

Depressed acne scars consist of:

Ice Pick Scars:

These form deep pits into the skin – the appearance of these scars look like they have been caused by a ice pick or another narrow similar sharp object hence the name.

Boxcar Scars:

Boxcar scars are very similar in appearance to chickenpox. These will be most likely be on your cheeks or temples and are oval in shape. Depending on the severity these can be fairly shallow to quite deep in depth.

Rolling Scars:

Shallow scars are wide and shallow that create a sort of wave like appearance on the surface of the skin.

You may feel all alone but did you know that 2 in every 10 people in the UK suffer from acne scarring that is socially noticeable. Most of these people use creams to try and treat the scars but the truth is these only treat from the outside.

Stretch Marks

Stretch marks are narrow streaks or lines that develop on the surface of the skin. They are caused when the skin is suddenly stretched and the dermis layer of the skin breaks allowing the deeper layers to show through.

Reasons for stretching can involve:

• Weight Gain

• Pregnancy

• Growth Spurts (As can be seen during puberty).

The areas that are usually most affected by stretch marks include the abdomen, thighs and buttocks.

Many people who currently have stretch marks believe that its something that they are unable to treat or manage. This is not the case.

Sublative Rejuvenation

If you suffer from acne scars or stretch marks Sublative Rejuvenation is for you. But what makes this treatment so special? Well first of all it’s the world’s very first Radiofrequency applicator and is a non-laser and non-light based aesthetic device. If that doesn’t impress you I don’t know what will…

What can it do for me?

To cut a long story short you can think of this as your laser free resurfacing saviour. It stimulates new collagen growth in the deep dermis and is used to treat textural irregularities, wrinkles, acne scarring and sun spots. Here’s the cool part, any skin type can be treated – from dry to sensitive to oily and everything in-between. Now take into consideration that this treatment only takes around 20 minutes and you can start to see why this is something special.

Does It hurt?

Ok I am going to be honest with you, this is a fair question and in truth Sublative Rejuvenation isn’t entirely painless. However this isn’t to say it’s painful either. Many people say the feeling is of a slight discomfort and the irritation experienced during the procedure feels similar to a dull tingly feeling.

How does it work?

Sublative Rejuvenation works its magic by stimulating the collagen in the dermis. This treatment uses fractional b-polar radio frequency to break through the skin all without damaging the top layer. This allows for more energy to get underneath the skin and make the most of collagen production.

During this treatment wrinkles, textural abnormalities, sun spots and acne scars are attacked from the inside out. Even after your very first treatment you will notice a considerable difference, even with the deepest of scars.

Acoustic Wave Therapy – Cellulite’s Worst Enemy

Cellulite is like that annoying friend that you just can’t get rid of no matter how much you try. Now for the purpose of this article we shall call cellulite Dave. See Dave likes to tag along everywhere you go and even makes you look bad on your holiday photos. He certainly loves being the centre of attention, seriously as soon as the sun comes out and you pop on your shorts Dave is there, screaming “look at me”.

You have tried asking him to leave nicely by changing your diet and by exercising but Dave is persistent and will just not leave you alone.

Time to bring in the muscle. You and Dave have known each other for a good few years now but it’s time to say goodbye, it’s time to introduce him to your new best friend Mr AWT.

What is Acoustic Wave Therapy (AWT)?

Acoustic Wave Therapy (AWT) utilises sound waves which are applied to the cellulite region. These waves combat both the major causes of cellulite; fibrous septae and the protrusion of fat into the lower dermis. When the sound waves are applied they stimulate the varying skin layers resulting in:

• Smoother, firm skin

• Breakdown of fat deposits

• Connective tissue tightening and retention of fat cells in the subcutis

This treatment was first discovered by chance. Even though acoustic waves have been used in the medical industry for many years to treat such things as kidney stones and muscle disorders, its “skin smoothing” capabilities where unknown.

Straight To The Point Without Needles

Until AWT the only way to improve the appearance of the cellulite dimples involved needles, and lots of them. Skin needling with a derma roller causes a micro injury to the skin triggering off the natural healing response which involves the body producing new collagen.

In contrast Acoustic Wave Therapy is painless and is none invasive. Research has shown that in female patients the skin elasticity can improve by 110%.

What Does The Treatment Entail?

Firstly a conducting gel is applied to the cellulite affected area to be treated. Next the AWT device is gently and smoothly moved over the skins surface, delivering the powerful yet painless waves deep into the skin. This usually takes around 30 minutes, but is dependent on the severity of the cellulite reduction required. After there is absolutely no downtime meaning you can continue with normal activities as soon as you have had the treatment.

80% of all women have been affected by Dave at some point in their lives, If you would like to finally say bye to him you can find more information here.

Kate Middleton’s Beauty Secrets

Since Kate and His Royal Highness Prince William started courting, everyone has been discussing Mrs Cambridge’s beauty secrets, especially since commencing her royal duties with her wedding to him and becoming a Duchess.

Wherever the Duchess went, the onlookers and media have been fascinated and blown away by her beauty and elegant, effortless style. Whatever the occasion, she looked impeccable. Even during her pregnancy.

And again, with her first appearance after giving birth to the little Prince, people from all over the world have been impressed by her looks.

So how does she achieve this effortless look of elegant beauty?

Skin

According to close friends, Kate resorts to skincare products with bee venom ingredients. Yes, bee venom. Where we shy back and wince with the idea of bees and their painful venom, Kate sees the venom with all its benefits. Bee venom is said to refine and repair the skin, leaving a smooth, younger-looking face and body surface that radiances a healthy glow.

Of course we don’t recommend that you find a large stick and start poking about the trees in your nearest forrest in an effort to find some bees. This would not be a great idea and would most likely end up with you having, well, a very swollen face due to all the stings you will receive from a swarm of angry bees.

Instead if you wish you try bee venom a quick search online can bring up all sorts of skincare products, produced by various brands.

Body.

For her body, besides the before mentioned skincare products, the Duchess also likes to resort to fake tan to help with looking tanned, after all the British weather isn’t known for its sunny side!

Now there is one thing using fake tan to create an overall nice looking darker complexion and then there’s looking like an Umpa Lumpa.

Of course Kate manages to apply the tan evenly and subtly to her skin, giving her a nice tanned glowing apperance, without the whole orange look.

Hair

In terms of hair, Kate trusts her locks only to Kerastase and Phyto, two popular French haircare brands who use a combination of various natural ingredients, giving her mane a healthy shine, and making millions of women green with envy. Since we cant remember the last time Kate had a bad hair day, these natural products seem to do the trick. Also wearing your hair in similar fashion wherever you go, mostly down or in a half-up do, certainly helps too!

Fashion

Kate Middleton has an impeccable taste in fashion. Always looking the part with her elegance, she brings out her biggest physical asset – Her Waist.

Whether she wears a short or long dress, or trousers and a blouse, her waist is always accentuated, making her frame appear even smaller than it already is.

Additionally to this, Kate always wears a high-cut top, to round off her elegancy in contrast to many other celebrities, who use their chests to gain media attention.

Snail Slime – Natures Very Own Flux Capacitor.

If I was to ask you to put a snail on your face, I could have a guess as to what the answer may be, however what if I was to tell you that snails have the uncanny ability to turn back the clock? No, stop right there, I don’t mean that tucked under their little shells is a flux capacitor. However found in their mollusk mucus is said to be a cure for a variety of ills, including acne, scars and burns, and most importantly wrinkles.

Yes that’s right the secret to eternal youth could be lying at the bottom of your back garden. Snail slime is rich in proteins of high and low molecular weight hyaluronic acid and antioxidants. This ‘miracle’ mucus has two main effects when applied to human skin, these are:

1. Stimulation of new fresh collagen, elastin and dermal components in the skin

2. Minimise damage that is caused by free radicals that are the reason for premature aging.

Why Do We Age?

Good question and if you know the answer to this question then you are within reach of a Noble Prize. The fact is no one really understands why we age, yes even those men in white coats have no clue. Well that’s not entirely true…there are two main theories that at present are our best ideas as to why we get old, get grey hair and lose our memories.

Theory 1 – We are Programmed to Die

This theory is known as the Gene Expression Theory Of Aging. It states that after a pre-programmed amount of time our bodies send out a code that basically slows down repairs. Proof for this theory is found in less complicated organisms such as coral and sponges that appear to show no sign of aging. This could mean that as organisms became more and more complex an evolutionary change may have occurred. Further justification of this theory can be found in the life spans or varying animals too – for example while some flies only live for a few days, the Bowhead Whale has been known to live up to 211 years. Why this massive difference? Is genetics the answer? Who knows….maybe.

Theory 2 – Age takes its toll.

Basically put the second theory states that as we get older the damage to our bodies becomes too extensive. As we all know are bodies are very complex ‘machines’ and with the constant damage to the tissue, cells and DNA it ceases the ability to repair itself and eventually shuts down.

Super Snail Treatment

So as far as I am aware your typical snail doesn’t possess some god like ability to turn back the sands of time however as discussed above their slime does have some anti aging properties.

A Japanese salon in Tokyo has took advantage of these properties and started a revolutionary treatment named the Celebrity Escargot Course that involves placing lives snails on a person’s face, allowing the snails to slither across the complexion. The treatment that lasts around 60 minutes will set you back around £161 – this also includes a series of facial massages and the use of an electrical pulse machine.

In addition the salon also uses creams that have been infused with snail slime from snails that are on a special diet of organic vegetables. Well you wouldnt want a snail that had been feasting off Big Macs sliding about on your skin now would you?

If the above doesn’t quite appeal to you then the Premier Laser Clinic might have the answer you’re looking for. Our Sublative treatment uses a fractionated radio frequency to provide a truly unique procedure. Sublative is FDA approved and is clinically proven to treat fine lines, stretch marks and wrinkles.

The Water Bottle Lottery – Are You Drinking Poison?

The hidden numbers that could be damaging your health.

Ok so I was pumping iron in the gym this morning when all of a sudden I hear two blokes to the right of me start talking. Honestly I wasn’t trying to listen in or anything…well maybe a little, but they were talking loudly and I was resting after completing my third and final set. I can’t remember exactly how the conversation went, but it was something like this…

Dave: John lemme have a look at your water bottle

John: Why? You’ve got your own mate

Dave: Just something I read on the tinterweb (I am guessing he meant the internet) last night. Wanna check to see if your bottle is poisonous

I don’t actually know if these were their real names or not as I wasn’t ear wigging that much. They just looked like a John and a Dave to me, actually come to think of it the tall one probably looked more like a Paul? Anyway that doesnt matter, this was the part where my little ears pricked up. Water bottle…poisonous? Yup that sure got my attention.

John: What are you talking about…poisonous?

Dave: Well apparently if the little triangle on the bottom of ya bottle has a number 1 in it then you should not use it more than once due to the chemicals leakin into the water.

This conversation continued whilst I pretended to do some other exercise still listening in until they both got up and left the area I was in. Now obviously it’s one thing listening in to someone else’s conversation from the same room but it’s another to then follow and stalk these people around the gym to continue to listen to their conversation. I would have to research this myself…was it really possible that the bottle I use every day in the gym could be damaging to my health?

The Little Hidden Number In A Triangle

I have been drinking from these bottles for years but have never once noticed the secretive little number that resides in the triangle that can usually be found hiding at the bottom of the bottle. So what do these numbers mean? Which are safe and which are not? Well with a little research I found the following.

Safe Plastics

Plastics that are safe include the numbers 2, 4 and 5.

#2: HPDE (high-density polyethylene):

This is a high density plastic which is very resilient to chemical leaching. This plastic is usually found in milk jugs and shampoo bottles.

#4 LDPE (low density polyethylene):

This plastic like above is also resilient to chemical leaching. You will mostly likely find this plastic in sandwich bags and shopping bags.

#5 PP (polypropylene):

PP is another plastic that is resistant to chemical leaching. It is semi transparent or white in appearance and is used for yogurt containers and syrup bottles.

Un-Safe Plastics

Now for the bad numbers…1, 3, 6 and 7

#1 PET/PETE (polyethylene terephthalate):

These bottles should only be used a single time and then thrown away immediately after. You should try and avoid these whenever possible due to the leaching of the heavy metal antimony and the hormone disrupting chemical BPA.

#3 PVC (polyvinyl chloride):

This is the most common plastic found in water bottles. PVC plastic is known to leach 2 dangerous chemicals DEHP (di-2-ehtylhexyl phthalate) and bispehonal-A.

#6 PS (polystyrene):

PS leach’s styrene which is a known carcinogen. Side effects of this chemical include headaches, dizziness, fatigue and drowsiness. PS is usually found in disposable cups and containers.

#7 PC/PLA: Polycarbonate:

This is most definitely the worst plastic to use as it’s made with BPA. The worrying thing here is that it can be found in baby bottles, water coolers, re-usable water bottles and storage containers that are used for food.

Drink in Safety

In addition to looking out for the above there are a few other tips that can make sure that the water you are drinking is safe.

• Don’t drink any bottled water that has been sat around for months.

• Have a little smell of your water before you have a drink. If it has a plasticy smell then throw it away.

• Keep your bottled water in the shade and away from direct sunlight. When plastic becomes hot it leaches chemicals into the water at a quicker rate. Who wants warm water anyway?

• If possible drink tap water and buy a suitable container to contain it. The best containers are made of either the safe plastics mentioned above, stainless steel or glass.

Next time I go to the gym I am going to make sure I have a bottle made from HDPE (high density polyethylene) that is manufactured without BPA. When I think of the amount of times I have used my water bottle in the past it is quite frightening to think of the hazardous chemicals I have been in taking with every mouthful of water.

Please Share or like this article to raise awareness of this not well known danger. While a lot of people feel they are being healthy they are unaware of the chemicals they are swallowing in their water due to old and un-suitable bottles.

• Several treatments are needed.

Is The Vampire Facelift (PRP) Right For You?

What Is A Vampire Facelift?

The vampire facelift (PRP) is a non-surgical procedure that involves the re-injection of PRFM (platelet rich fibrin matrix) that is derived from the patient’s own blood, hence the name, back into the skin in the patients facial area to rejuvenate the skin.

Recently this treatment has been made famous by Kim Kardashian who was quoted as saying ‘I love trying anything that makes you look and feel youthful,’.

Why Should I Get A Vampire Facelift?

If you are showing any of these typical signs of aging then this treatment is for you:

1.  Your face has a grey tinge to it due to a lack of blood flow in the facial area.

2. Your facial shape appears more droopy as the muscle and collagen are decreasing in the skin

3. You have fine and course wrinkles

4. Your skin is lacking elasticity

5. Thinning of the dermis

6. Pigmentation asymmetries

There are other types of treatments to rejuvenate the face so why should you choose the Vampire Facelift apart from it has a really cool sounding name?

The main and key reason is that the procedure uses the patients own blood meaning that the treatment is 100% natural and safe. Surgery is one option that can have some pretty impressive results but it is usually a bit excessive for what is usually needed and has risks associated with it.

Who Should Get The Treatment?

The Vampire Facelift is ideal for anyone who would like to:

•  Regain their youthful appearance

• Improve the texture, colour and look of their skin

• Reduce/remove fine line and wrinkles

• Improve skin tone.

How Does The Treatment Work?

Step 1

Firstly the physician will use a Hyaluronic Filler to fashion a more youthful appearance whilst keeping the shape of the face natural.

Step 2

The physician then extracts blood from the patient – around 2 teaspoons. Using a centrifuge the platelets are isolated from the blood in around 10 to 15 minutes. These platelets are then activated to cause the release from the platelets of at least 8 growth factors that is normally used to heal damaged tissue.

Step 3

Finally Numbing cream is applied to the patients face and with a small needle the extracted growth factors are injected back into the facial area. This is where the magic happens – the growth factors activate multipotent stem cells that are already located in the skin and trick them into thinking that there has been a facial injury and that new tissue should be created. As a result these stem cells develop new collagen, blood vessels and fatty tissue to repair your skin that was never damaged. Clever huh?
