Actually 1300 Glasses Of Red Wine = 1 Hour In The Gym

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The internet has literally been flooded with articles recently that I am sure you have seen that state a glass of red wine has the same benefits as 30 mins/one hour at the gym. Using this as a scientific fact I should be ripped beyond belief but this could not be further from the truth.

So where did this information come from? It turns out this info was based on a study published in the Journal of Psychology entitled “Improvements in skeletal muscle strength and cardiac function induced by resveratrol during exercise training contribute to enhanced exercise performance in rats.”

The funny thing is that in no way shape or form do the authors EVER state that wine can replace exercise – what they do say however is ““Combining resveratrol supplementation with exercise training augments the beneficial effects of exercise alone.”.

Also I am not sure if you noticed but the study was based on rats, yes rats, not humans. Maybe this explains how Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo and Raphael came to be, but it is a bit of a leap to assume the same results would be seen in humans.

A recent study by Examine.com showed that in actual fact it would take around 1300 glasses of red wine in order to get the same amount of resveratrol in the red wine that the rats get.

Tattoo Tips For First Timers

The Golden Rules Of Getting A Tattoo

Getting your first tattoo can be a very exciting time, but be warned, make sure you have given the decision some serious thought before you go ahead and get inked.

Just like all the people who are in love with there skins etchings, there are also thousands of people who are starring at their tattoos and wondering why they ever had them done.

Never let anyone tell you that you should not get a tattoo as it is a personal choice BUT make sure that choice is the right one.

Do your homework, speak to a few people who have had tattoos and visit some tattoo parlours in your local area before you let the excitement take control and do something which you may regret later on in life.

However saying that if you do decided to get a tattoo then take into consideration these golden rules:

1) Colour

Do you want a black and white tattoo or are you looking at getting one with colour? This may not sound like such an important question but later on down the line it could be. With the Laser Tattoo Removal treatment works it can remove black tattoos very effectively but some colours such as green and blue can be very difficult to erase.

2) Avoid Names

It may seem like a romantic gesture at the time to get your girlfriends name inked onto your arm but what happens 2 years down the line when you decide to split up. Sure you can always try and find a new girlfriend with the same name but wouldn’t it have been easier to have never got it done in the first place?

3) Work

Tattoos have become more common and as a result become more socially acceptable. However there sill remains the stigma in the workplace, especially if you have some kind of tribal tattoo that takes up half of your face. If you want to get a tattoo think hard about its location. Making sure it can be easily hidden will make applying for that new job a lot easier.

Should ALL Women Shave Their Faces?

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

It has been an age old question, should women shave, wax or pluck? Well apparently according to Angela Garvin in order for women to age better like men they should only shave their faces.

I know what you are going to say, doesn’t shaving encourages hair to grow back thicker, stronger and darker? Basically a women’s worst nightmare – I mean the whole reason is to remove hair, not encourage it grow back thicker and more noticeable than before.

However Angela has been shaving her face for the past 8 years and swears by the results. Even dermatologists endorse the idea and Angela has said that regular shaving has improved her complexion. She went on to say,

‘Make-up goes on more evenly and easily, products absorb better and my skin is in great condition. It’s the smoothest and brightest it’s been in years,’

Dr Micheal Prager who is a aesthetic clinician pointed out that from a anti aging point of view shaving the face regularly is “like a mild form of microdermabrasion‘ and therefore encourages collagen production.

Laser Hair Removal For Red Or Ginger Hair – Does It Work?

Laser Hair Removal On Red & Ginger Hair

What are your options when in comes to managing your hair? Does laser hair removal work on red and ginger hair?.

Having red or ginger hair means you stand out in the crowd a lot, which is a great thing if you have beautiful strawberry blonde hair or flowing copper locks. All redhead shades are now very popular for people when they want to dye their hair.

However, what about the people who have natural red hair and have to deal with the day to day management?

Noticeable

Red and ginger body hair is just as noticeable as a full head of hair, which is the total opposite of what people want when it comes to body hair. Even if a little bit of leg hair is growing, you will be able to see it easily.

This makes hair removal very tiresome and complicated for people with red or ginger hair and constantly shaving or waxing every week can cause irritation, making your skin almost as red as your hair.

How the laser works with red and ginger hair

Laser hair removal works by targeting the melanin in the hair,. (This is the dark pigment that makes skin and hair a deeper colour). Some people have more of this pigment than others, hence why some people have darker skin than others.

During the treatment, once the laser has locked onto the pigment, the laser beam permanently destroys the hair follicle which means hair growth is unlikely in the future.

The problem with red and ginger hair is the fact that lasers have difficulty determining between pigments, red being one of the most difficult to see.

The same goes for grey hair which is another difficult colour for the laser to spot.

Myths

There have been many myths that redheads or ginger haired people can’t have laser hair removal treatments because the hair itself is too light.

  • can i dye my hair?

Before you wonder, there is no point in dying your hair, because it’s colouring the surface of the follicle, not actually changing the colour which is down to your genetics.

  • combining treatments?

This is a problem which has been circulating for quite a while in different clinics. However, with improved technology and methods, such as combining laser and radio waves, this will work better on the hair follicles, then making it easier to get rid of.

  • laser and radio waves

To solve the issue with treating red hair, some clinics combine laser and radio waves which are thought to better target the melanin in the hair itself. It also works better on the follicle.

  • more expensive & more sessions

However, the cost of this combination treatment will often be higher than for regular removal of hair by laser hair removal methods. Also, if you have red hair and are using this method of hair removal then you will need more sessions under the laser to make it effective.

laser for ginger and red headsTips & consultation advice

Here are some tips for red hair laser hair removal.

    • Laser hair removal for red hair is more difficult then treating someone with darker hair as described above.
    • Good results with improving laser hair removal technology are possible.
    • Make sure to book a consultation and receive a FREE patch test in order to find out if laser hair removal would be effective for you as everyone is unique.
    • Before your laser hair removal treatment, try not to wax, pluck or tweeze hair for at least four weeks – shaving is allowed.
    • The hair must be present in the follicle for the treatment to work.
    • Remember, after hair removal, you may feel as if you can see hair growing. This isn’t the case, this only happens because your hair is shedding in that particular area after the treatment.
    • Whatever you do, don’t forget about sun cream. Yes, even during winter weather but with red heads having very pale skin, you are more likely to experience skin irritation. Make sure you use SPF 30 and higher on your skin daily if you are showing your arms and legs. This is especially important for your face.

Are YOU Making Your Skin Oily?

It is universally agreed that there is 3 types of skin – oily, dry and combination. It is important for you to know which of the three types of skin you have in order to provide the best skin care.

Oily skin is prone to attract more dirt which has the negative effect of leading to blocked pours and therefore acne. Having oily skin is genetic, however some of your lifestyle choices and routines may be making your skin more oily.

Not Washing Often Enough

If you are prone to oily skin then washing your face on a regular basis is advised. Only washing once or twice a day may not be enough to keep your skin from becoming excessively oily.

Using Too Much Cream

Moisturiser is important, but for people with oily skin choosing the wrong type of moisturiser cream can make things worse.

Eating Oily Foods

This one is quite obvious but eating oily foods will reflect on the skin. Try to limit the amount of these foods that you consume to keep your oily skin maintainable.

Have You Hit A Weight Loss Plateau?

There is nothing worse than when you have been ‘beasting’ it at the gym for the past few weeks, going for your daily 3 mile run only to stand on the scales and see that your weight hasn’t shifted a bit.

Hitting a weight loss plateau can be very demotivating, not seeing the results that you are expecting, even the slightest results can make you revert back to your old lifestyle. Why give up the tasty junk food if eating leaves and fruit doesn’t make a difference? Why go to the gym when you can watch TV with a packet of Haribo and still weigh the same?

Weight Loss Plateaus Are Normal

Weight loss plateaus are perfectly normal and are in fact very important. These plateaus normally after occur after significant weight loss i.e. 10kg. Why is it normal not to lose weight? Well the body tries to maintain homeostatis, keeping many of your bodily functions such as temperature control and fluid balance at a regulated range.

Essentially your body is trying to be too clever and when it detects that your expected intake is too low or too high it will try to stabilize your weight by altering your metabolism and conserving energy.

This is why when you first start off on your weight loss journey it is easier at the start then towards the end when you are trying to drop those last remaining pounds.

So How Can You Outsmart Your Body Into Losing Weight?

Put simply you need to shake things up – keeping the body guessing is the secret here. Change your eating strategy, if you eat 3 meals a a day then switch this to 6 smaller meals whilst also altering your calorie intake.

Introduce interval training to your cardio routine or switch the amount of set/reps that you do of any given exercise.

Beat Acne With These Surprisingly Killer Tips

Acne is a very common skin condition amongst teenagers and young adults, which could even continue for many years. Skin glands naturally release sebum that offers protection to your face and body. However, too much of this being produced during puberty can block pores in the skin, creating irritation and the development of acne. During this time, a boost of testosterone will occur in men and women, increasing their growth and making them sweat more. This can then make the skin more likely to get blocked with excessive sebum, likely to create the acne we all hate so much.
