TIPS TO MINIMISE MASKNE

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

What is maskne?

Mask + Acne = Maskne. Maskne occurs whens acne breaks outs result of wearing a mask. Maskne can develop in as quickly as one day of wearing a mask, or after several weeks of mask wearing. Due to COVID-19 it has become an everyday lifestyle to wear a mask to protect ourselves and everyone around us. However, one of the unwanted side effects of wearing masks is that it can cause acne, rashes, redness and breakouts to appear.

Premier laser & Skin has put together top 5 tips to help educate and inform our clients to minimise breakouts.

What causes maskne?

Wearing a mask creates a humid environment that can cause blockage due to mask causing a barrier between the skin and fresh air. Wearing a mask causes sweat, oil and bacteria to build up and this can clog our pores. The weather can influence maskne too. During warmer climates, maskne is most likely to be caused by clogged pores, whereas colder climates maskne is created by friction on dry, sensitive skin.

Top 5 tips to minimise maskne:

  1. Gentle Cleanse:

Stick to unscented or fragrance-free cleansers, gentle cleansers removes excessive sebum (oil) from the skin and, swear and bacteria. Using scented and fragranced cleansers can be irritating to the skin and make it harder for the skin to heal when we breakout.

2. Moisturise

Moisture your skin after cleansing and before wearing your mask especially during winter climates to keep the skin hydrated, this will prevent water loss and improve the barrier function of the skin.

This will act as a protective barrier between your skin and your mask and also prevent rubbing which causes irritation, which can lead to skin abrasions and breakouts.

3. Avoid wearing heavy make-up

Avoid wearing heavy make-up or foundation underneath the mask as it may have the potential to lead to spots/acne. Wearing heavy make-up or foundation underneath the mask as it may have the potential to lead to spots/acne due to blockage of pores. You can use a light BB or CC cream as a less harsh alternative.

4. Keep Hydrated

As much as we can take care of the outside, we need to take care of our inner health. Keeping hydrated throughout the day is essential to keeping skin as hydrated as possible to flush out all toxins and help improve skin’s barrier function. You can also use water face sprays to refresh your skin in-between the day to refresh your skin,

5. Choose the right mask

Choosing the right mask material and fit is essential to not only keeping yourself and other safe throughout covid-19, but also to reduce damage to your skin.

To avoid skin breakouts, choose the right mask by making sure:

  • fits correctly, but not too tight
  • has 2 or more layers of fabric
  • is made of natural, soft fabric (like cotton)

Avoid masks made of synthetic fabrics, such as nylon or rayon. These materials can cause further damage to the skin and cause irritation.

IPL home devices vs laser hair removal

Permanent hair reduction does sound like music to many of our ears. We all know how painful, time-consuming and messy hair removal can be.
However even though laser hair removal gives you a better value for money considering the time of treatment and the long-lasting results, you might find yourself in a search for cheaper permanent hair reduction solutions.

IPL home devices are preferred by those who want to achieve permanent hair reduction with a lower budget. However, IPL home devices do not perform the same quality of work as laser hair removal. If you are considering to start your laser hair removal treatments or purchasing an IPL home device. We’ve listed you some of the facts that you won’t be finding on IPL home device reviews.

How does IPL home devices work?

In order to explain how IPL home devices work, we should first explain what IPL is. IPL stands for Instant Pulsed light. Which results in hair reduction where the results will last longer than shaving, waxing and plucking. The lights hit on the skin surface and only works on the hair follicle. The light weakens and destroys the hair root and provides hair reduction.

The difference between IPL and laser hair removal

IPL and laser might seem like they work under the same principle. Which is not completely wrong. They both target the hair follicles and destroy the hair root in order to provide hair reduction. However, they differ in strength. While laser hair removal is providing a focused light on the targeted area, IPL on the other hand drifts the focused light on a wider area on the skin. The scattered light, as it is not as strong as the focused laser beam, won’t be as effective laser light.

While your laser hair removal treatment session is taking around half an hour, IPL machine will take longer time to get rid of the excess hair on the same area. And while for a permanent hair reduction you are usually advised to 6-8 sessions, if you are having IPL treatments, you will need to get more sessions as the light is much weaker and the results won’t be as effective.

What is an IPL home device?

IPL home devices give the comfort of IPL treatment at your homes. They are light in design and easy to use. The hoe IPL machines work with the same principle as the IPL machines at the clinics. However even it might be more comfortable to have your hair removal treatments at the comfort of your home, the results may not be as effective as laser hair removal, and also IPL treatment that you can get at the clinics. This is due to health and safety reasons. As IPL treatments might be dangerous, there is always the danger of harming the skin or burning. To prevent this situation, the home IPL devices are not as strong as the ones that can be found at the clinics.

Home IPL devices vs laser hair removal

We’ve compared the IPL home devices with laser hair removal treatment to give you a better understanding of both options for permanent hair reduction.
Laser hair removal is proven to be the most effective permanent hair reduction method. It provides up to 90% hair reduction over 6-8 sessions. IPL home devices, as they are not as strong as the laser, don’t provide good enough results and they can only be classified as long term hair reduction method instead of permanent hair reduction. Even though the results with IPL home devices are much longer than waxing and shaving, if you stop using the IPL home devices, your excess hair will come back.

The latest technology on the laser hair removal industry introduced us to the highest standard, medical degree laser hair removal machine; Candela. At Premier Laser & Skin we are proud to have this latest technology available for our clients. One of the best qualities of this latest laser hair removal technology is that it is suitable for all skin types. On the other hand, IPL home devices are only effective on lighter skin tones. They are pretty dangerous on darker skin tones and might cause pigmentation on the skin.

We mentioned before that the IPL home devices are specifically built for your own use without a need of a profession and this was due to the health and safety concerns. In order to perform treatment over a certain strength, you need to be professionally trained. Even if you are performing the treatment on yourself, it is not safe for you to do otherwise.
The IPL home devices are purposefully not as strong as the clinic machines. However, this doesn’t mean that they can’t be dangerous. There are many recorded cases the IPL home devices are causing serious skin injuries. And because there isn’t a professional practitioner present, it is highly likely that you wouldn’t be able to perform the necessary recovery on time.
With laser hair removal on the other hand, as your practitioner sets up the settings and the machine heads especially for you, the treatment is more tailored. And there are not as many recordings of skin burns as there are with IPL home devices. With laser hair removal you are in the safe hands of our experts.

10 benefits of dermal fillers

Dermal fillers can be used for many purposes. Smoothing out fine lines and wrinkles, contouring your face, giving your lips a fuller look or revitalising skin.
If you are considering to have dermal filler but not sure about if it for you, this guide is just for you! We’ve listed the top 10 benefits of dermal fillers. After reading our guide if you still have any questions you can contact our clinics and book a consultation with our expert doctors and nurses.

1. There is no downtime with dermal fillers

One of the main reasons our clients prefer dermal fillers to any other anti-ageing treatment is that there is no downtime after the treatment. The main procedure is also quite quick and you are free to go back to your daily activities as soon as your treatment is completed. If you don’t have the time to go through long treatment or operations, dermal fillers are just for you.
Alternative procedures usually cause skin irritations, bruising or pain after your treatment. But with dermal fillers, you can never tell that you’ve just left the doctors room.
The only thing we would like you to avoid is make up right after your treatment. And that is due to the puncture that’s been left from the needle needs to be kept sterilised. But as soon as the needlepoint is recovered, you can apply to make up to your skin as well.

2. You can decide what results you want with dermal fillers

On invasive anti-ageing treatments such as surgeries, you cannot always decide on your results. Your body can have a different response to the treatment than you would expect. And it is rather on your doctor’s hands to deliver the exact results you are after.
With dermal fillers, you are more of a part of the treatment process. You can choose how much mil of filler you want and where do you want it to effect.
Then you are in the safe hands of our doctors and nurses for the best results.

3. Dermal fillers build your self-confidence up

We are all beautiful in our skin. But sometimes we might have little things that we would feel shy about. Perhaps it can be your thin lips or the fine lines and wrinkles appearing on your skin reminding you about the time. Many of our clients realise boost on their confidence after having their dermal fillers. More kissable lips and younger-looking face. It will definitely make you feel better.

4. With dermal fillers you can get rid of your scars

One of the biggest advantages of dermal fillers is that they improve the appearance of scars. You might have tried different things to get rid of your facial scars. Maybe you tried to cover with makeup or you tried painful and long treatments to get rid of them. But dermal fillers might just be the answer for you.

5. Dermal fillers give you a younger-looking skin

As we grow older, our skin loses its collagen and the fat on some areas move down under the skin. This causes us to lose the plumpness of our skin. Dermal fillers can help you to restore the plumpness you lost over the years and leaves you with a younger-looking face.

6. You can choose to get subtle results with dermal fillers

If it is your first time getting dermal fillers and you don’t want to have a major change, you can inform your doctor or nurse and they will be able to decrease the level of your dermal injections. For example, you can choose 0.5 mil fillers instead of 1 mil ones. This way you can have a gradual change in your appearance and have more subtle results.

7. Immediate results with dermal fillers

Most of us start to use anti-ageing creams in our late 20s. It starts giving us the necessary head start while fighting with the visible effects of years. However anti-ageing creams require consistent everyday use and they provide a very little effect in such a long period of time.
Dermal fillers, on the other hand, give you the instant results you are looking for. It usually takes around a week for your optimum results but you get immediate results from your treatment even with the most subtle injection.

8. Unlike surgery, there is no recovery time with dermal fillers

Plastic surgery is usually preferred by clients who are looking for more dramatic results in terms of anti-ageing. The results are more visible and can last longer than dermal fillers. However, the recovery time usually takes weeks. And you also may not want to go through anaesthetics and the aftercare the surgery requires.

9. With dermal fillers you are the same person, just your better self

One of the other main reason our clients prefer dermal fillers over more invasive treatments is that dermal fillers don’t change your face. Your mimics, your facial qualities will stay the same. And there will only be an improvement on your looks. If you are looking for anti-ageing fillers, you are not going to start looking like someone else. You will get back to your look on your older pictures.

10. You are in safe hands with our dermal filler experts

Our dermal fillers are only performed with industry leading professionals. All our doctors and nurses have many years of experience with dermal fillers and they will make sure to get you the best results! You are always in safe hands with our experts.

Tattoo removal with Lumenis Stellar M22 laser

There are many decisions we make in life which are irreversible. And getting a tattoo was definitely one of them a few years back. But not any more!
However, you’ve probably already heard that removing a tattoo is much harder, painful and often more expensive than getting a tattoo. Which is one of the main reasons many people think twice before getting one.

With the old technology tattoo removal machines, it was never possible to remove the tattoo fully. Some clients, after going through many painful laser tattoo removal sessions, were still left with strong reminders of their old tattoos. And they needed to cover them with new ones. And quite often we have been visited from our clients who came to get rid of their cover up tattoos too.

Usually with laser treatments, experts use numbing cream that helps to reduce the pain and make your treatment more bearable. However with the old laser tattoo removal devices, there is always the danger to burn the skin. As this can only be felt with full skin awareness, using numbing cream on laser tattoo removal was never an option.

So at the end you can have 8-10 sessions of very painful laser tattoo removal, spend more than you’ve paid for your tattoo at the first place, and still be left with a pretty much visible tattoo on your skin.

But things are changed now. Today we have Lumenis Stellar M22 technology available. And at Premier Laser & Skin clinic, we are very proud to be the first clinic to bring this technology available in London.

What is different about Lumenis Stellar M22 tattoo removal?

The laser beams shot from the Lumenis Stellar M22 shutter the tattoo ink into tiny particles. Your body then gets rid of these very small ink pieces in natural ways. The laser beams only effect the ink and doesn’t harm the surrounding skin. Because the Lumenis Stellar M22 laser doesn’t harm the skin, your practitioner can apply a local anaesthetics cream. It will numb the area and will help you to have a much easier treatment process.

You can feel a mild heat on the area and experience a feeling similar to band snapping on your skin.

Unlike many other laser tattoo removal machines, Lumenis Stellar M22 uses Q-Switch technology which enables tailored treatments for your specific needs. Depending on the type of your tattoo, including the colour, shape and the depth of the ink has been injected, your treatment can differ. And this new technology can accommodate all your tattoo removal needs. This gives you a better results on your laser tattoo removal treament.

Starting from your first laser tattoo removal treatment session, you can start seeing a change on the colour density of your tattoo. The number of the treatment sessions needed would change depending on your skin colour, skin type, colour of your tattoo and the area of your body which the tattoo is placed. The number of the treatment sessions that will be recommended by your laser tattoo removal expert can change from 2-3 to 10 depending on these variables.
After your laser tattoo removal treatment you will see small white circles on your tattoed area. These can then turn into little redness and mild swelling on the area can occur. If this is the case, do not worry as they will dissolve within 24 hours.
After the first 24 hours a thick crust will start appearing on the treated area. This is your skin’s natural reaction for recovery. The thick crust will then fall within 2 weeks. You can gradually see the fainting of the tattoo in colour and shape during this time. And in 6-10 weeks, you will be ready for your next laser tattoo removal session for the sent step.

What is different about Q-Switched laser?

Q-Switched laser is the latest technology in laser tattoo removal and pigmentation removal treatments. The main difference between the Q-switched lasers and the traditional lasers are that the Q-switched lasers are able to shatter much smaller fragments of ink or pigmentation. Which makes them much more effective than the older technologies.
While the Q-switched lasers are more effective, they are also much safer than the older technology tattoo removal lasers. It only targets the colouration on the skin and doesn’t harm the surrounding skin.
One other important and different quality you can reach with the q-switched lasers is that the laser promotes the collagen production over time and helps you to have a better skin texture as well as getting rid of your unwanted tattoo. Normal tattoo removal lasers can harm your skin after your treatment. But with Q-switched laser your skin will be restored too.

If you are looking to get rid of your old tattoos with an effective and safe solution why not visit our clinics? Our highly experienced laser tattoo removal practitioners offer free consultation and patch test with the latest Lumenis Stellar M22 Q switch technology.

At Premier Laser & Skin our promise is always to offer the latest technology in the beauty industry. Coolsculpting, the latest and the most effective cryotherapy technology that is cleared by the FDA.

How does Coolsculpting work?

Coolsculpting works with freezing the fat bulges on the targeted area. The process starts with the consultation from your expert Coolsculpting practitioner to see if you are suitable for the Coolsculpting treatment. Your procedure will take as little as 35 minutes depending on the area. Your practitioner will mark the area to determine where the fat bulges are gathered and it should be targeted. Then depending on the size of the treatment area, one of the different size applicators will be chosen. Before placing the applicator your practitioner will use a special cover to make sure the treatment doesn’t affect your skin. Once the applicator is placed on the treatment area, your practitioner will make sure you are comfortable and leave you to enjoy your treatment with a snack, and TV.
After the treatment is completed, your practitioner will return in the room, take off the applicator and perform an intense massage on the treatment area.
With the freezing effect going down up to -11, Coolsculpting will freeze your fat bulges on the treatment area. While your performing the intense massage, all the connections between the fat cells will be broken. Your body then will get rid of the dead fat cells in natural ways.
As this is not an invasive procedure, your recovery time will not be long. Right after your treatment, you can go back to work or your other daily activities.
In 3 months time, you can see the optimum results which are up to 25% fat loss on the treatment area.

Coolsculpting for double chin

Coolsculpting uses different size applicators to provide flexibility in the treatment areas. There are regular size applicators available for use. And if your practitioner is treating a very large area, then larger applicators are also available.
Until a few years back, it wasn’t possible to treat the double chin area as the applicators were just too big for the purpose.
With the new applicator size Coolsculpting Mini and Coolsculpting Petite, it is now possible to perform the treatment on the small areas such as double chin perfectly.

When you are at our clinics for your Coolsculpting treatment for under chin area, your expert practitioner will mark the area as usual and depending on the size of the are they will either use 1 or 2 applicators for the treatment.
Depending on the size of the fat bulges and your results, they might recommend a second session as well. But you can make sure that at the end you will have the perfect neckline for your selfies.

Why should you prefer Coolsculpting to get rid of your double chin?

Under the chin area is one of the hardest areas to get rid of the fat bulges. Unlike our abdomen, flanks (love handles) or thighs, storing the excess fat on this area is not usually related to your overall weight. It is more related to your genes and body type. And you can still have a double chin if you are perfectly fit.
So no matter how much exercise you do or how many strict diets you follow, you may not be able to get rid of your double chin.
Of course, there are some special exercises for the under chin area are available for you to perform which can have an impact on the size of the excess fat on your neck. However these exercises often don’t serve as you intend, or they take such a long time for a little result.
With Coolsculpting treatment, you can get rid of your double chin just in one session, which will only take around 35 minutes.

Do you still have some more questions? Or are you also considering having Coolsculpting on other areas of your body as well?
Why not book a FREE consultation with our Coolsculpting experts and they can help you to achieve your dream body.

Best winter skin treatments

Sunshine leaves us earlier…
Roads get frosty early in the morning…
And now you can see your breath outside….

Say hello to winter.

During the colder months, our bodies go through many changes to adapt to the weather and to help us survive this season easier. Our metabolism works faster to keep us warm. Less water is stored in our bodies as there is less heating on the body less sweating. Also, we loose some of the natural moisture we have on our skin due to the cold and dry weather.

Winter skincare, by nature, should be different than your summer skincare. As the needs of your skin will change, the routines should chance too. And what about the clinical level of your skincare?

We’ve listed you the best 3 most popular skin treatments for the winter.

Dermapen Microneedling for winter

Dermapen Microneedling is an amazing treatment to help you to get rid of your skin imperfections. It creates controlled wounds on your skin and promotes its own healing process. Because the wounds on your skin are not actual wounds, your skin overcorrects the area and you end up erasing the last few year’s effects from your skin.

One of the most important parts during your dermapen treatment is after you had the treatment you need to stay away from the sun exposure for 1-2 weeks. During this time your skin healing process will be working actively and if you would get any suntan during this time, it may cause unwanted pigmentation and skin marks.

Dermapen microneedling treatment is performed in different settings. If it is your first time having the treatment, your practitioner will use the lower settings. This means the tiny needles will penetrate your skin 0.5-1mm. If you are having dermapen microneedling treatment regularly, then your practitioner can increase the level up to 2-2.5. The severity of your treatment will also be depending on your skin type and condition. If your skin thin and your skin condition is not too severe, your practitioner will prefer lower settings. The higher settings you get your treatment will give you bigger skin shedding after. If you are having a high setting treatment, sunshine will have more effect on your skin. So if you are suffering from some serious acne, acne scars, fine lines and wrinkles or pigmentation; winter is the best time to have your course of dermapen treatment.

Dermapen microneedling is one of our invasive skin treatments as, during your treatment, tiny needles will punctuate your skin to create micro-tears. Because of this, after your treatment, you can feel hot, tingling and a mild burning sensation on your skin. Most of our clients prefer having their dermapen microneedling treatments during the winter times as the colder weather is making the time after the process easier.

Hydrafacial for winter

Hydrafacial is one of our most popular treatments. It is non-invasive. Cleans and clears your skin, hydrates and gives you the immediate red carpet glow right after your treatment.
As we’ve mentioned during the winter times, your skin doesn’t store as much water as summer times. This way your body spends less energy to warm you up, as there isn’t an antra litre of water stored that it needs to heat up. Also, as cold air is less humid, your skin gets dried from outside as well as inside.
Hdyrafacial treatment provides your skin with the hydration it needs. Even though you change your skincare during the winter and you start using more oil-based moisturisers for a stronger effect, no skincare cream can reach the benefit of Hydrafacial.
With the winter season, we also experience higher pollution in the air. This pollution gathers on your skin and fills up your pores. This can then cause acne, blackheads or other skincare problems. With its cleaning and extracting formula, Hydrafacial will help you to get rid of the effects of winter pollution.
Winter times are also when we experience the most undereye puffiness. As days are shorter, we do use more artificial lights and it tires our eyes. This is one of the reasons for black under eyes or undereye puffiness. With the lymphatic drainage, which is the first step of Hydrafacial treatments, you can get rid of your undereye puffiness and can have a more refreshed look.

Skin peels for winter

We all have different skin needs but one thing is for sure, during the winter we need to take better care of our skin to make sure it doesn’t dry up. Otherwise, it can get patchy in a short time. And can get more fine lines and wrinkles in the long term.
At Premier Laser & Skin we offer many skin peels that would be suitable for your skin and it will provide what your unique skin type and condition would require.
With the correct skin peel to your skin type and condition, you can get rid of your acne problems, reduce fine lines and wrinkles, increase hydration, and give your skin its regular care.
If you don’t know which skin peel is the most suitable for you, you can speak to our skin experts. Our highly experienced practitioners offer free skin consultation to understand your skin type and complaints. They will offer you the correct bespoke skin peel for your unique results, and help you to achieve your skin goals.

Why winter is the best time to start your laser hair removal treatment

Are you fed up with the wax pain every month? Or are you complaining about shaving because it after 2 days your hair starts to grow and leave you with a prickly feeling on your skin? Then laser hair removal is the right thing for you!
Laser hair removal is an amazing long term hair reduction method that helps you to get rid of your unwanted hair. Thank s to the latest technology cooling system, it is not painful like waxing. And because it actually gets rid of the hair follicles, it leaves your skin silky smooth; unlike shaving.
And we are sure that you will be happy to hear that winter is the best time to start your laser hair removal journey. Why? Here are the main reasons why you should start your laser hair removal treatments now.

There is less sun exposure

Laser hair removal 101. The laser cannot be performed on tanned skin.
You will love the sun once your laser treatment finishes and you will be able to go to the beach without any preparation. But until then, you need to stay away from the sun!
Before starting your laser hair removal treatments, you need to make sure that the area is not been exposed to sun and there is no tanning. Also after your laser treatment, you need to wait 2-4 weeks before you can suntan. Otherwise, your skin can get damaged and some pigmentation can occur. Also, we recommend having your laser sessions every 4-6 weeks. If you get suntan after your laser session, you won’t be able to get your skin ready before your next laser appointment.
You can probably see why starting your laser sessions in winter is beneficial. Your skin has already been away from the sun and ready for permanent hair reduction. And you can make sure you won’t get any tan between your sessions as especially London in the winter doesn’t really match with beach requirements.

No excessive sweating during the winter

Laser by its nature heats the hair follicles and gets rid of them. We do use the latest technology cooling to make sure you are as comfortable as possible during your treatment. But the laser beams still heat the hair follicle. This may cause the skin around the hair follicles to get more heat-sensitive for 24-48 hours.
We recommend you to prevent excessive sweating and getting exposed to heat right after your laser session. However, during the summer time, it is not as easy to do so.
Wintertime, on the other hand, is perfect for you to stay cool after your laser hair removal treatment with our experts. As long as you don’t take very hot showers or use the sauna or steam room, nature’s cooling will help you to be more comfortable after your session.

You don’t need to shave or wax during winter as you will be more covered up

Laser hair removal works on hair follicles. If it’s applied on your actual hair, it will burn the hair and can cause pigmentation.
To prevent this, we kindly ask you to shave the treatment area 24 hours before your laser treatment. But until then, you need to let your hair be free!
It takes 4-6 weeks for a hair follicle to complete its cycles and come to the correct stage for the laser to be effective on. If you wax during this time, you will change the whole cycle period and on your next laser session, the laser may not be able to as effective as usual.
Winter times come with their layers. The long sleeves, tights under skirts, and not being the bikini weather outside helps to cover your excess hair as well. This way you can let your hair be on the perfect stage during your sessions.

You will be beach ready by the summer

We recommend 6-8 hair removal session for the optimum results. And each session would need to be 4-6 weeks apart.
If you were to start your laser hair removal treatments now, you can easily be ready to enjoy stress-free summer!
Easier to arrange your treatment times. You have more time. Don’t need to pause your treatment for holidays

Easier to arrange your diary

We all love the summer holiday. The dark winter days are over and can spend more time with the kids too. And we do deserve those lovely sunshine holidays. Doesn’t matter if it means that we will need to rearrange many set plans.
During the winter times, you can arrange your appointments easier. As you don’t need to pause your treatment for holidays, you can continue your them on the set schedule. Which will bring you better results in the long run too.

Are you thinking about starting your laser hair removal journey? Why not book a consultation with our laser experts? We offer free patch test too!
Get beach-ready before summer this year!

Most frequently asked questions about laser hair removal

If you are considering or getting ready to start your laser hair removal treatments, we’ve prepared you a handy guide with our most frequently asked questions about laser hair removal.

How do I get ready for my laser hair removal appointment?

Before your laser hair removal appointment, we kindly ask you to shave the area 24 hours before your treatment.
Avoid any chemical peels or laser resurfacing in the treatment area.
Exfoliate to remove any dead skin build-up.
Ensure no fake tan is present on the skin.
Avoid excessive sun exposure on the area being treated two weeks prior (including solariums and spray tan)
Do not wax or pluck hairs four weeks before laser treatment.

Does laser hair removal hurt?

One of the benefits of laser hair removal is that the treatment is virtually painless, especially compared to waxing. Each pulse lasts less than a second, producing a slight tingling feeling. In particularly sensitive areas, such as the upper lip, it may feel like a rubber band snap on the skin.

Our advanced cooling machines used in all laser treatments cools your skin before, during and post-treatment to minimise discomfort.

How long should I wait in between laser hair removal sessions?

Depending on your hair and skin type and the area being treated, you will usually require treatments at 4-6 week intervals.
Each part of your body has a different hair growth cycle, so the hair loss will vary depending on what phase your follicles are in at the time of the treatment.

Can you do laser if you have PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome)?

One of the most common effects of PCOS on women is excessive hair growth due to hormones in the body.
If you are suffering from PCOS, you can choose laser hair removal. It can give you longer results than waxing or shaving. However as we usually recommend 6-8 sessions for laser hair removal, you might need to have more sessions depending on your hair and skin type as well as the degree of the effect of PCOS.

Can I have laser hair removal when I’m pregnant?

We don’t recommend to have laser hair removal while you are pregnant. Even though there are no studies show that the laser is dangerous for you or for the baby, you can still experience high discomfort and your skin can react negatively to the laser while you are pregnant or during breastfeeding.

You can start your laser hair removal treatment as soon as you stop breastfeeding.

Is laser hair removal safe on dark skin?

With the old technology laser hair removal machines, there was always the danger of pigmentation on darker skin tones when the laser is performed.
With the latest technology candela machines, you can now have a safe and effective laser treatment on darker skin tones as well.
During your free consultation, your clinician will examine your skin and inform you about how suitable laser hair removal for your skin.

Does laser hair removal help with the marks that are left with shaving? Like the green tint.

When you shave, you also exfoliate the top layer of your skin which can cause some skin irritations. And the green tint you are experiencing is a side effect of shaving on dry skin.
With laser hair removal, you don’t experience these marks on the skin after the treatment. However unfortunately laser cannot get rid of the previous marks on your skin. It will only get rid of the hair follicles on the treatment area. If you are looking for a solution to get rid of your skin marks and imperfections, our skin experts offer a free consultation to help you to reach your skin goals.

Can I wax or shave between my laser hair removal sessions?

Hair grows in different stages. And unfortunately, we don’t know which hair follicle is on which stage at what point. Laser hair removal burns the hair root and destroys it. And in order to do this, your hair follicle should be on the right stage. This is also the reason that we recommend 6-8 sessions in 4-6 weeks apart. As if your hair root was not on the right cycle on your first session, it is highly likely to be on the right cycle on the coming sessions.
Waxing or plucking will be effecting the roots of the hair follicles. It pulls off the root and messes up with the natural cycle of your hair. And when you come to your next laser session, your hair follicle may not be on the necessary phase.
But of course, you may not want to have any excess hair while waiting for your next laser hair removal appointment. Then you can shave between your session. This way you won’t disturb the hair growth cycle and you can temporarily get rid of the unwanted hair until you remove them permanently.

Hydrafacial deep cleanses your skin

For healthy skin, you should clean your skin twice a day with a skin appropriate product. On your daily skincare routine, you probably would have cleansers, tonics, balms, wipes, and ointments. But even if you are following a very strict daily skincare routine, that Hydrafacial treatment will really show you how much dirt, makeup or dead skin cells get stuck in your skin. Hydrafacial, with its pore vacuum, deeply cleanses your skin and gets rid of all the nasty parts our cleaners cannot reach. If you don’t believe us, look at your deposit water after your Hydrafacial treatment. After each treatment, the dirt, oil and other deposits are collected in the deposit jar. You can see everything that has been cleaned from your skin.

Hdyrafacial for detoxification

Your 6 step Hydrafaical treatment starts with Lymphatic Drainage. This part of your treatment is performed with a special glass device which uses very light pressure and long, gentle rhythmic strokes to your skin. It increases the flow of lymph as well as reducing the toxins in your body. Lymph is a clear fluid that is consisted of white blood cells which bathe the tissues. Your lymphatic system is a part of your body’s immune system and it helps to fight with infections. Lymphatic drainage step will promote the absorption and movement of your lymphatic fluids and help get rid of toxins, bacteria, viruses and infections.

Hydrafacial for undereye puffiness

Tiredness, stress, bad sleep… You can usually read these signs from under your eyes. Undereye puffiness is a condition 80% of the population suffers from at some point in their lives, and in most cases, pretty much regularly. With tiredness and ageing, the muscles around eyes supporting the tissues get weaken. And the skin can get saggy, also causing gaps in the undereye tissues. By the time your lymphatic fluids may accumulate in the space below your eyes. This causes swelling and as we know it, undereye puffiness. With correct pressure points, light pressure and continuous rhythm on lymphatic drainage, Hydrafacial will help you to get rid of your undereye puffiness.

Hydrafacial for less congested pores

We all know the acne is caused by bacteria and inflammation stocked in your pores. Sweat, leftover makeup, pollution and dirt on your skin gather in your pores. When you clean your skin you will always leave some of them left. Doesn’t matter what you are cleaning your face with. You can use special face soap, home use deep cleanse machines or nose strips. You can never reach the deep pore cleanse as well as Hydrafacial. Hydrafacial opens up your pores, prepares your skin to deep suction with exfoliation and salicylic acid. Once your skin gets softened and ready to be cleaned, the deep suction clears up all your pores and leaves with you perfectly cleansed skin.

Hydrafacial to get rid of acne

Even if your skin is not acne-prone or oily by nature, you can still be suffering from acne. As we’ve mentioned before when your pores are filled with swear, dirt, pollution or any other outside effects; the bacteria start to cumulate on your skin. The more bacteria are collected, the more puss is created on your skin. And when the puss is gathered, it forms the acne. There are different types of acne. Such as blackheads or whiteheads which are easier to be cleaned gotten rid of. And there are also other types of acne where the puss cumulates under the skin and is much harder to get rid of. Such as pustule or papules. Hydrafacial can help decrease the appearance of your acne, whichever the type it is.

The skin peel treatments help to refresh and renew your skin and appearance. Regular skin peels get rid of the top layer of your skin and clear off the dead skin cells. This promotes your body’s natural renewal process and helps you to have a better looking and feeling skin. Also, it helps the skincare products to penetrate your skin better and reach deeper layers. The second and third steps of Hydrafacial is focused on skin peeling and extraction.
