Will Back Laser Hair Removal Work On My Colour Skin?

The technology has improved since the earlier laser machines years ago.

That means no matter what colour you are, lasers can work on your skin type. If you are darker skinned with really thick hair or fair-haired, lasers will give you the hair free results you crave.

At Premier Laser our practitioners have treated men and woman of all ages, from all backgrounds and colours and have the experience of getting results with the thickest and hairiest backs.

Latest Laser Technology Works On All Skin Types

Lasers have two different wavelengths.

  1. the Alexandrite ‘red light laser’
  2. Nd:YAG wavelengths.

They are designed to remove hair on all skin colours. If you have lighter skin you would use the Alexandrite Laser which use the 755nm wavelength on the infrared spectrum to destroy hair. For tanned to darker skin tones the Nd:YAG wavelength of 1064nm will destroy hair.

Lasers work by being attracted to dark pigment. If you have really dark thick back hair and are worried that laser wouldn’t work, lasers work better and are really effective on dark hairs and you should experience super results.

Does Mens Back Laser Hair Removal Really Work?

Laser hair removal cannot get rid of 100% of hair. Any clinic promising that is misleading you. What you can expect is an 85-90% hair reduction. Any hairs growing back will be much lighter, thinner and more manageable to remove.

For most men this is dramatic and is a real game changer.

How Long Does Mens Laser Hair Removal Last?

If you have stuck to your appointments and have been discussing your results every session with your practitioner, then you can expect to have a permanent 90% reduction in hair.

(Choosing the right practitioner and talking to them about your progress every session is key for best results)

If you get to you last session and you are not happy with your results it may mean you need extra sessions. Those extra sessions should remove the last remaining hairs.

Results are then permanent. You won’t need to buy another 6-8 package every year. What you may need to do is have 1 or 2 top up sessions every year or two years apart.

Compare this with not having any laser and the inconvenience and pain you go through every few days or weeks. Changes are dramatic. Most men are happy with their results (and so are their partners!.)

laser hair removal for men

Is Mens Back Laser Hair Removal Painful?

It is not as painful as waxing, if you have been waxing up until now. Because the back is a large area laser hair removal on the back can be painful.

Pain also depends on the individual and how they tolerate it.

It has been described as having a rubber band flicked against your skin. Seeing as the back is a large area for laser hair removal that is a lot of rubber band flicking which can begin to irritate.

All clinics perform a patch test before any laser treatment so you will get to feel the sensation for yourself. If you turn out to be sensitive then numbing cream can be applied to the area which should lessen the pain.

Do I Need To Prepare For Back Hair Laser Removal?

Yes clinics would you require you to shave your back before you appointments. Most clinics offer this service for you for a small charge. Shaving the area makes the laser treatment more effective.

What If I Don’t Shave Before Back before Laser?

If you don’t shave the laser will waste energy attacking the hair outside the skin instead of the root. If shaved the laser can focus on going straight to the hair root, killing that and stopping it from ever growing back.

Also no reputable laser clinic will perform laser on an unshaved back as it would be a waste of time.

Mens Back Laser Hair Removal Cost

For laser back removal you can expect to have at least 6 sessions, depending on how you respond. The cost will work out around £100 per session if you buy a package, based on London laser hair removal clinic prices in 2020.

So you are looking at a total cost of around £700. If you need more sessions this take the cost to over £1000.

Most clinics will have finance so you can spread the costs if required.

For example, at Premier Laser for 8 back sessions on finance it would cost you £61 per month for 12 months with a 20% deposit and at 0% finance. This is less then cost of buying the latest mobile phone on contract which is a price worth paying for a lifetime of a hair free back!.

How Many Laser Hair Removal Sessions Will I Need For My Back?

What is critical if you are thinking about laser hair removal for your back, to get the best results and value for your money is commitment and consistency.

Appointment are spread 6-8 weeks apart and it is really important to stick to them. If you leave long gaps between treatments 3-4 months then you are just wasting your time….and money.

This is because the laser works and syncs with your hair cycle. It takes around 6 weeks for a hair to complete the growth cycle in most people. Laser can only destroy hair in the growth phase call the anagen phase.

At your first session only hairs in the anagen growth phase will be destroyed – hence multiple appointments are needed, spread evenly apart, to kill all the hairs in the growth phase.

That is why you will have to block time off to commit to it. If you travel or are away a lot, then you need to maybe plan to do laser when you have a clear diary.

The good news is after attending your sessions consistently you should be so happy with the results. (And so will your partner, as lets face it, nobody lets a bear in the bedroom )

Is Back Laser Hair Removal Worth It?

If you purchased a package of 6-8 treatments from a laser clinic by the end of your last session you would have spent close to £1000 on removing hair from your back. That is a lot of money. So you would expect results!.

In the short term laser hair removal is expensive and an inconvenience.

Having to travel to a clinic 6 – 8 times throughout the 8 – 12 months the treatment occurs can be a pain.

Not to mention the cost.

It is expensive.

Also you have to stick to the appointments and if you cancel or miss appointments you will not get the best results.

But after going through all that and not having to go back to your old lifestyle of endless waxing and shaving, it really is a small price to pay and one of the best investments you will ever make in you personal grooming.

What Are The Negatives About Back Laser Hair Removal?

Most people complain about the cost. Although there are some fantastic deals out there with finance deals bringing down monthly costs. The time it takes and the commitment also are a negative as are finding a reputable clinic.

We can’t help you with the time it takes, but everything else we can help you with.

laser hair removal for men

Will It Make My Back Hair Grow Back Thicker?

No, It will not grow back thicker after you back hair has been lasered off. Hair is killed permanently and does not grow back. The hair growth that may occur you will find to be much thinner and manageable. This applies the to 10% of hair that remains.

4 keys to the best back laser hair removal experience and long term success

  1. Reputable Clinic
  2. Latest technology
  3. Experienced Technician
  4. Consistency & Commitment

If any one of the 4 above is missing don’t expect good results. Latest tech without an experienced practitioner is a waste of time. Lacking consistency and cancelling appointments will also affect results. Cheap prices by a clinic in a poor location that looks a bit run down, well what do you expect!.

Hand Care During Coronavirus

Have you washed your so much recently with soaps, gels and sanitisers they are beginning to feel dry and rough and you’re noticing the first signs of painful cracks appearing?

With the current situation, we are recommended to wash and sanitise our hands more than ever as health professionals advise that washing hands is one of the best ways to stop the virus spreading. Washing our hands with soap and water regularly and using hand sanitisers gives us fantastically clean germ free hands but we are all finding out it comes at a cost.

Dry ,cracked and bleeding hands are not only painful but more sensitive to viruses. So what can we do right now to maintain soft smooth hands while at the same time staying safe?.

Why frequent hand washing cause dryness?

While soap and water wash away dirt and germs, it also strips the natural protective layer on your skin. Removing the oily layer from your skin causes dryness and sensitivity.

How to wash your hands without irritating your skin?

We are advised to use an antibacterial soap to prevent the virus spread and wash for twenty seconds or sing happy birthday to ourselves twice. However, we all know, soap is not always the our skins best friend. It is sometimes a love hate relationship.

To minimise the drying effects of soap, make sure to choose a gentle soap which cleanses with natural ingredients rather than harsh chemicals such as parabens, alcohol, chlorine or even fragrances.

After washing your hands

Once you wash your hands with a carefully chosen soap, dermatologists recommend gently patting your hands dry, instead of rubbing harshly. Also using a hard fabric towel can further irritate your skin. So make sure to use a soft cotton towel to dry your hands. This way you can minimise the negative side effects of frequent hand washing.

Always moisturise your hands

When skin loses its moist texture, it cannot act as a protective shield. Moisturisers hold the water in the outer layer of skin and make your hands softer as well as helping to prevent or treat dry skin on your hands.

It is important to choose the right moisturiser for your skin.

While many people prefer to use water-based lotions such as Hydra-gels it may not be the best choice for everyone.

Water-based creams such as Avena moisturisers, on the other hand, can have a longer-lasting effect on your skin.

And for people with extremely dry skin, it is advised to use oil-based creams. Oil-based creams hold water inside your skin longer, leaving you with more lasting relief. And using essential oils are really good to replace the natural oils that have been washed off of your hands.

While washing your hands more frequently than ever, it is important that you add moisturising as an important part of your daily routine.

Make a hand mask

Using moisturising creams are highly effective but they may not be enough in some cases. If your hands are still very dry after you regularly apply moisturising creams and care, you may want to try hand masks.

There are many highly effective hand masks you can find behind the counter. However, if you are self-isolating, or you wish to keep your social distancing, you can create your own mask at home.

Simply mix;

  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1/2 Lemon juice
  • 2tbs Olive oil

Beat it until your get smooth cream-like texture.

Apply it to clean, dry hands in a thick layer and let stand for at least 15 minutes.

The longer you keep it, the better results you will get.

Overnight miracle

You can even care your hands in your sleep. All you need to do is before going to bed, generously apply hand cream and cuticle oil, and wear a pair of cotton gloves. You can also do this with Vaseline. But make sure to prefer non-scented ones. This way your hands will retain the moisture all night and you will wake up with incredibly soft hands.

Applying this 1-2 times a week will help you perfectly to look after your hands while preventing Coronavirus.

Hydrate your body

We all know that in order to maintain a healthy life, we need to drink enough water. As well as it is crucial for your inside organs, it is also very important for your biggest organ… your skin. Make sure to consume enough water throughout the day to give your skin the boost it needs.

To determine how much water you should drink a day, you can simply calculate the following.

Water (in litres) to drink a day= Your Weight (in Kg) multiplied by 0.033.

For example, if you are 60 kg, you should drink 2 litres of water every day. If you are 90 kg, you should increase your daily water intake to 3 litres.

Humidifiers

Keeping your skin moist and taking the best care of it is one thing. But what about your surroundings?

Keeping the air you are surrounded by moist, will help you to maintain healthy skin. Humidifiers can help you prevent your skin from getting dry and cracked. However, if you don’t own a humidifier, which most of us don’t,  you can improvise. Simply place a wet towel on your warm radiator and it will help to humidify the air.

Protect your hands all times

Protection is as important as treatment.

While washing your hands more than ever now, avoid using anything abrasive.

Exfoliation is often recommended for healthy skincare. Although, during this time, while your hands are suffering from extreme dryness, it is not the best time to practice it. Avoid any type of buffing or exfoliating for your hands.

Make sure to eliminate any unnecessary exposure of hard chemicals. While doing cleaning or other types of chores requiring the use of chemicals, don’t forget to wear protective gloves. It might feel strange or you may not be used to it, but it will definitely worth using them.

If you are gardening or doing yard work, you should use heavy gardening gloves.

And you can prefer thin medical gloves while cooking with acidic ingredients such as tomatoes or onions.

In cold weather, make sure to wear your winter gloves when you go outside. They will protect your hands from drying or chapping in the wintery air. If you can’t use your winter gloves, you should either try to keep your hands in your pockets while you are outside. Or make sure to apply nappy cream on your hands. This will create a thick layer on your hands and decrease the wind’s drying effect.

While the sun starts shining outside, if you need to leave home, make sure you also apply SPF on your hands. This will protect your skin from the sun’s rays and eliminate further pain.

If you have any questions about skin health, our experts are happy to talk to you anytime

After laser hair removal when does hair fall out?

After your laser hair removal session you should notice your hair will gradually begin to fall out over the following days. Many people believe that all their hair should fall out on the same day or by the next morning!. This is not the case. Here is what happens.

Immediately after your laser hair session your skin may feel a bit sensitive. A bit like you have sunburn. Cooling Aloe vera gel should be applied by the clinic as aftercare. It is a good idea to have your own handy to cool down your skin and stop any irritation in the days following your laser session.

Lasers can only kill hair in the anagen phase of the hair growth cycle. When you have your laser session only around 15% of your hairs will be in this phase. So 15% of your hair will be destroyed. Only these hairs will fall out 5-14 days after your laser session. They will slowly work there way free from your skin and shed automatically. It is not necessary for you to help them by plucking or rubbing. This can happen for weeks afterwards.

At your next laser session you will then destroy another 15% of your hairs in the anagen phase of the hair growth phase. And 15% in the one after, and so on, until all the hairs are destroyed. This is why multiple sessions are required. They are spread out about 6 weeks apart so they can synchronise with your hair growth cycle as it takes around 6 weeks for a hair to grow.

Bikini or Brazilian Laser Hair Removal ?

Should i get bikini laser hair removal or Brazilian?

It is one of the most common questions women (and increasingly men and their manzilian) ask online when deciding they want to have laser hair removal on their pubic region.

For unknown reasons talk of hair removal from this area is a taboo subject or embarassing and awkward. It’s all hush, hush and many women find it difficult to openly ask advice about such questions often leaving the internet to fill in the gaps.

Searches online for ‘laser hair removal on my vagina’ run into thousands every month so we thought we would tackle this subject here.

We have been performing laser hair removal on Londoners everyday since 2008, so we think we know a thing or two about laser!.

what’s the difference?

You have decided that you want laser hair removal to finally remove the hair from your pubic area but do you want Brazilian or bikini laser hair removal…come to think of it what is the difference?

(We will leave the Hollywood out of it for now!  (read more about Hollywood laser hair removal)

bikini laser

Bikini Laser Hair Removal

Bikini laser hair removal refers to the hair that can be seen whilst you are wearing your bikini, hence the name.

So for this treatment hair that can be found directly outside the underwear and at the top of the thighs and inner thighs is removed.

  • extended bikini laser hair removal treatment (G-string laser hair removal)

Women can also ask for an extended bikini laser hair removal treatment which goes a little further in than the standard bikini treatment and removes slightly more hair. This can also be referred to as G-string bikini.

Instead of going up to the bikini line it goes inside the bikini line so as mentioned a little bit more hair is removed.

Bikini and Brazilian hair removal area

bikini laser

Brazilian Laser Hair Removal

A Brazilian simply refers to removing 99% of all the hair – this also includes the back and anal area too, known in the aesthetic industry as the perianal area.

A small amount of hair is left at the front which can be in any given shape however most choose to leave a strip of hair or ‘landing strip’.

How wide and how high you want this to be is personal preference so discuss this with your practitioner when they are marking out the area to be lasered.

So the rest of the area is hair free apart from the small strip, and this is know as a Brazilian.

how long does a Brazilian last?

After you have completed you package, results you should experience up to 90% permanent hair reduction. Hair that does grow back will be a lot thinner and finer. Some people may need an occasional top up session from time to time.

Bikini Laser Hair Removal Preparation

Before you get laser hair removal a little preparation is needed which involves shaving your hair which will help to reduce any pain felt but also increase the effectiveness of the treatment.

It will make your treatment more effective as the laser can focus on destroying the root of the hair and not waste energy destroying long hairs above the epidermis or skin.

Usually a laser clinic will get you to shave the day before your treatment. As mentioned previously it is quite common for women to leave a shape such as a strip when having a Brazilian, if this is the case when shaving leave this area as it is.

If you are getting Bikini laser immediately before you go on holiday make sure you leave some time for your skin to heal. Removing hair by laser transfers a lot of energy into your skin and if you go on holiday to a hot climate then the sun will add more energy (or suntan) into your skin that is trying to heal.

  • laser hair removal after your holiday with a suntan

That is also why if you have recently returned from a holiday and want to have laser or if you were in the middle of laser hair removal and you have suntan on the area you want lasered or were having lasered then you will have to wait for the suntan to fade as your skin heals.

A suntan is the skins response to damage. Having high powered lasers remove hair on already damaged and healing skin would be cause further harm to your skin health.

bikini laser

Before your bikini laser appointment

Also your choice of underwear is important depending on what type of hair removal you want.

  • First off you want to choose white or very light coloured underwear – since the laser is attracted to dark colours wearing a dark shade of underwear can make the treatment less effective.
  • If you have decided to go with bikini laser hair removal then as long as you are wearing bikini shaped underwear i.e. not boxers then it is recommended that you keep them on.
  • If you wanted to go with the extended bikini option than a g-string is advised, although it is not compulsory.
  • Finally if you want a Brazilian than ideally you are advised to remove your underwear so that no spots are missed, however this is not essential.

If you are worried about removing all your clothing laser clinic practitioners are experienced at putting you at ease and have probably performed thousands of laser hair removal treatments downstairs.

You will be handed a towel by the practitioner who will use the towel to make sure you are covered at all time and only exposing the area that is being lasered while the towel covers the rest.

bikini laser

Does bikini or Brazilian laser hair removal hurt?

With laser hair removal one of the very first questions to be asked is“how painful is it?”

Since everyone has varying pain tolerances this can be quite a tricky question to answer, however the majority of people say

it is a lot less painful than waxing and feels like a rubber band being flicked at the skin.

Before you have any sessions you will experience the laser when you have your consultation and patch test.

A patch test is where the laser is tested on a small patch of your skin to see how well you and your skin respond to it. You will then get to feel for yourself how painful or not laser hair removal is. You can read our laser FAQ here.

If you think it will be too painful numbing cream can be applied to the area 30 minutes before you laser session.

  • How long does a Brazilian or bikini it take?

As it is not a large area, like the back, the time required is around 20 minutes, this will include preparation time as well. A Brazilian will take longer as more hair is removed and area covered.

bikini laser

How much does Brazilian, bikini laser hair removal cost ?

At Premier Laser our prices are set out in the table below. Buying a package of laser session works out better value then buying pay as you go sessions.

Perianal Laser Hair Removal

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

  • The perianal is located between the buttocks and around the rectum on men and women.
  • The area can be separately lasered covering the rectum and perineum.
  • You can combine the perianal and buttocks for one treatment.
  • Most clients add the perianal to bikini, Brazilian or Hollywood packages for convenience.

Laser and the Perianal Area

The perianal is a popular area for laser hair removal. It is located around the rectum and usually includes the perineum. (Otherwise referred to as your bum, butt – if you’re American, or anus to give it the correct medical term!.

Whichever term you prefer, it’s the annoying hair down there that you don’t want to be down there!.

So what are you options?. But first, let’s clear up exactly where were talking about, to avoid any confusion.

Where is the Perineum & can I laser there?

The perineum is the small strip of skin between your anus / bum and genitals on both men and women. This area can be effectively treated for laser hair removal.

So you can finally say goodbye to waxing and shaving.

By having laser on the buttocks and perianal you will save yourself the trouble, and difficulty, of removing it yourself in these tricky and hard to reach places.

Also you will not have the ongoing expenses of waxing or shaving or the potential of painful ingrown hairs. The last thing you want is an infected, swollen ingrown hair as they can be extremely painful specially when trying to sit down!

How to get rid of perianal hair

Like most parts of your body where you don’t want hair, the perianal and your buttocks can have its fair share of hair. Growing wildly and out of control, laser hair removal can soon have the area tamed, smooth and hair free.

bikini laserChoose the perianal on any bikini or Brazilian packages

Most people will have the perineum done while they are having other areas lasered.

If you are already have or are thinking about laser hair removal down below then it makes sense to choose the perianal area and buttocks (if required) as part of your package. Most laser hair removal companies allow you to pick and mix the areas you want treated.

Perianal & Buttock Laser hair removal

For example,  if you are already having bikini or an extended bikini (g-string) laser hair removal or having a Brazilian why not add the perianal area?. It will not add much time to your laser session and it is a good idea to get it all done together if it bothers you.

Also it will tidy the area so you will be hair free round the front and back!

At Premier Laser a full Hollywood which is all the hair in the pubic region would include perianal and buttocks.

How many sessions will I need?

Once you start laser hair removal your previous methods of hair removal will need to stop, otherwise it will interfere with your treatment. Most people will require a course of 6-8 session for best results. Package prices tend to work out better value then pay as you go pricing.

perianal laser How much for Perianal laser hair removal in London?

How do I prepare for perianal?

We have written a guide on how to prepare for laser hair removal and it gives you a detailed breakdown of what you need to do for best results. There are no extra steps you need to take for perianal laser hair removal then you would for other areas.

Of course you will want to maintain good personal hygiene, washing using warm soapy water prior to your appointment and shave at least 24 hours before your laser is recommended.

We also have a guide for aftercare and FAQ’s. If you still have questions have them ready to ask your practitioner at you consultation.

Worried or embarrassed about having laser here?

You should not be worried or embarrassed at all. Laser hair practitioners are friendly and professional and have seen and done it all. Doing laser hair removal everyday, they have treated hundred if not thousands of people just like you.

If you are worried about having a younger practitioner ask your clinic to provide a senior, more experienced practitioner, to put you at ease and make you feel comfortable.

How long does treatment take?

Laser hair removal on your perianal is quick and straight forward. It is only a small area so can be covered in a few minutes by your practitioner. The buttocks may take lightly longer.

How does the laser work?

Laser hair removal works by sending a focused pulse of light onto the skin. This heats the pigment in the melanin and destroys the hair all the way down to the root and hair follicle. The hair will then fall out up to 7 days later. Laser only destroys hair in the anagen phase of the hair growth cycle, this is why more then one session is required.

laser hair removal

Will it work on my skin type?

Perianal laser hair removal is a fantastic solution whatever your skin type and tone. Todays lasers use dual wavelengths, like the Candela Gentlemax Pros we use at Premier laser, operate on the Alexandrite 755nm wavelength and the Nd:YAG 1065nm wavelength which can treat skin types 1-6 on the Fitzpatrick scale or light to dark brown

Our top-of-range Candela lasers are FDA approved and are found in medical practices and hospitals worldwide.

Is it painful?

Laser hair removal is generally not considered to be painful, although everyone has a different pain threshold. The sensation has been compared to having a rubber band pinged against your skin. A sensation most can tolerate. Numbing cream can be used if you are more sensitive.

Local Croydon clinics

Laser hair removal costs can add up to thousands of pounds if you are having your full body lasered.  Multiple laser hair removal sessions are carried out over the course of a year, usually 6-8 sessions for most people.

Paying upfront for treatments can be a risk if you choose the wrong clinic. Local clinics have been known to go out of business never to be seen again and never to refund outstanding money owed.

There is also the risk your local clinic will not have the relevant insurances. If anything goes wrong you may not be covered. It is also not uncommon to hear about clinics being sued only to close and reopen the next day under a different name.

To avoid this happening to you, do your research, go online, read reviews, speak to friends and family and make the right decision for you.

Laser Hair Removal vs. Waxing

Laser hair removal v waxing, what’s better?

Waxing or Laser?

That’s the question.

Having warm wax poured onto your bikini area then counting down from 3 to 1 as the wax strip is ripped off your skin while you scream the first swear word that pops into your mind is not everyone’s idea of fun.

Laser on the other hand is also painful (just not as much!) and a lot more expensive (true in the short term).

So which one should you choose?

Before we decide. Lets look at both options. Starting with waxing.

What is waxing?

The wax used a is mixture of beeswax, glycerin, glucose and corn coagulable protein. (not the wax from a Jo Malone or White Company candle!.) Using the thickness of the beeswax it pulls out the excess hair and root.

It is a physical hair root pulling method and rather painful if you have experienced it!.

There are two main types of wax:

  • Hard wax, no wax paper is needed, hot wax is applied to the skin the beeswax cools down and hardens, then is forcefully torn off.
  • Soft wax requires wax paper. First hot wax is applied to the skin, then wax paper is pressed on top of wax and torn of quickly when the paper hardens.

For both the above methods, the consistency of the wax and technique of therapist are super important.

The type of wax, thickness of application, hair direction, hair root strength, technique all need to be really good to get the best results.

So waxing is relatively simple, but the pain caused by the tearing process is not for everyone, many people find the experience to be too painful!.

Results of waxing last for about 2- 4 weeks before you have to go trough the whole experience again!.

Is Laser Hair Removal better then waxing?

Laser hair removal is the best method for getting rid of unwanted hair due to the precision and care the laser uses on your skin.

Laser treatment catches the hair in the active growth stage, which means the follicles are permanently destroyed and should not produce any more hair.

Result!.

Like with waxing a small patch of skin is tested first to see how you react to the laser. A patch test is performed at your consultation to make sure your skin is able to tolerate the laser well.

After your skin has passed the patch test test! You will be ready to begin your course of treatments after 24 hours, to make sure there are no bad reactions to the laser.

People who choose laser hair removal over waxing say it is because :

  • It is almost completely pain-free
  • Skin can be smoother year-round
  • It is a long-term solution to hair reduction
  • It is suitable for virtually all skin types
  • The laser machines are powerful medical technology as used in hospitals

Laser hair removal for permanent hair removal, unlike waxing

If you want permanent hair removal or reduction of up to 90% laser hair removal is recommended. It saves time, money, effort and is less painful in the long run.

Here is how the technology works

Laser works by generating heat that penetrates the hair root destroying the hair matrix and hair follicle stem cells which leads to permanent hair removal or permanent hair reduction.

The laser beam is actually sequences of controlled energy pulses that are absorbed by the hair’s pigment as it reaches into hair follicles just under the skin’s surface.

The pulses of energy destroy the hair right down to the root safely, without damaging any surrounding skin or tissue in the process.

After 6-8 sessions, skin will appear even and smooth, with any remaining hair visibly reduced.

Laser technology v waxing

Laser hair removal technology has been around for over 20 years so is established and proven.

Candela created the very first laser hair removal machine in the world and they and are used in high end clinics and hospital worldwide

One of the best laser hair removal machines on the market is the Candela Gentle Max Pro. It is approved by the US FDA and uses Alexandrite and Nd: YAG dual- wavelength.

Laser hair removal v waxing appointments

Laser hair removal follows the hair growth cycle, so it is important that you follow and stick you your appointments.

  • It varies from 6 to 8 treatments for each person with each treatment separated by 6-8 weeks.

So if you are thinking about getting laser hair removal for the first time you need to set aside enough time and commit to the whole process for best results.

  • For waxing you would typically schedule appointment every 2-3 weeks or if you are doing it at home the same. You need enough hair to grow back so it can be removed.

Laser hair removal v waxing for side effects

Laser hair removal side effects

Laser hair removal has very few side effects with most people finding it not too painful. The treatment feels like a rubber band flicking against your skin. The most common skin reaction includes temporary redness, erythema, folilic oedema, which usually disappear in a few hours.

Side effects of waxing

When tearing off the wax the hair may break and stay in a part of the pores. This can cause skin problems such as folliculitis, ingrown hairs and infected spots which can be extremely painful and are also not a good look!.

  • Danger of waxing and sun damage

One of the most popular times we book in for a wax is the day before our summer holidays. This can be very problematic though as waxing can also remove the top layer of dead skin and the new fresh skin is more vulnerable to  harmful effects of sunlight.

This in turn can cause skin discolouration or a change in pigmentation of the skin. It can be especially noticeable on the upper lip if sunblock has not been liberally applied.

Going through the waxing process just a few days prior to going on holiday when you’re going to be out in the sun more than normal is not always the best choice for you skin.

Another pitfall to waxing comes in the form of ingrown hairs. Dermatologists say waxing can actually help cause ingrown hairs, which can be quite painful.

How waxing can cause ingrown hairs

The rapid process of waxing involves pulling hairs out so fast that it can actually tear at the lining of the skin. The lining guides a hair’s growth and if the lining is damaged, and the hair doesn’t have a direction to re-grow, the hair doesn’t have a good exit strategy from the body.  This causes ingrown hairs.

On top of that, waxing requires you to wait for the hair to grow back before you can wax again. Is waxing worth it?  Many say no.  There are many more positives to removing hair though a laser than forcing your body to go through the hazards that come with waxing.

Why we recommend Laser Hair Removal over waxing

Laser hair removal is a safe, proven and effective. Waxing is easy to do either at home or in a clinic and is still very popular today and cheaper then laser.

Waxing results that can last much longer than shaving so is preferred to shaving but not to laser. Also waxing is never ending. As long as your hair grows you will have to wax. With laser once the hair has gone……it’s gone!

If you have been waxing for some time and are thinking about switching over come and speak to one of our friendly team today.

Laser Hair Removal Service – 5 tips to help you find the best laser clinic & service

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]If you are looking for laser hair removal services in London how do you know which clinic to choose?. London has seen an influx of clinics recently with new franchises opening up to keep pace with demand.

New clinics include Irelands ‘Therapie Clinics’, Australias ‘Laser Clinics UK’. They have entered the market alongside the established industry giants SK:N and independents like Premier Laser. It is a good time to get laser hair removal services as competition has led to lower prices.

Every clinic will claim to offer the best :

  1. Service
  2. Prices
  3. Technology
  4. Results
  5. Experience

…or all five.

How do you go beyond the claims and boasts of clinics to find out the truth?, so you can make the best decision and get the best results.

Finding the best laser hair removal service

For most people starting laser hair removal the first step will be to talk to friends and family. Speaking to friends and family, researching online, visiting clinic websites, comparing prices for packages and reading reviews will all help you make the right decision.

  • But what should you look out for?
  • Should you choose by price alone?
  • What other things the price be considered?

We’ve listed the 5 things you need to look out for that will go a long way to help you find the best laser hair removal service in London.

laser hair removal

5 things to look out for when looking for the best laser hair removal service

1.Conveniently located

You will want to find a reputable clinic that is close by so you don’t have to travel far for your appointments. This will make it easier to stay committed to your treatments. Cancelling and rescheduling appointments because the clinic is difficult to get to will severely impact your laser hair removal results.

2.Top of the range lasers

To guarantee the best laser hair removal service you will need to choose a clinic with the top of the range lasers. Cheap lasers can be purchased over the internet for a fraction of the cost of the FDA approved lasers used in reputable clinics and should be avoided at all costs.

The brands to look out for are Candela and Cynosure. Ask if your clinic uses these brands. They are the same powerful grade 4 lasers used in hospitals and are the Rolls Royce of the laser hair removal world.

laser hair removal practitioner

3.Experienced practitioners

Technology alone does not guarantee results. Skilled expert practitioners can make or break your treatment. Many of the newer franchise clinics now operating in the UK are opening new clinics at a rapid rate. In order to find practitioners they often recruit straight from beauty college.

These practitioners will often lack the experience of more experienced practitioners. The can potentially put you and your treatment at risk then if you were to have a more experienced practitioner treating you.

Experienced practitioners will have treated customer with all skin types and tones form light to dark .

They will have the knowledge and expertise to work with you during your treatment and tailor the treatments for maximum effect.

They will also know when to adjust settings to give you the best results at every session. Inexperienced staff will not.

laser hair removal service

4.customer service

If you have found a clinic with the latest technology, experienced practitioners and conveniently located so you can get to your appointments easily, the final part to consider is the customer service levels and price

Laser hair removal can run in to hundreds, if not thousands of pounds, so you want to feel like a valued customer by a clinic. When attending your consultation for your patch test, which all clinics are required to do, it is a great opportunity to scrutinise the clinic on many levels.

  • First impressions

If you are made to wait and are seen 15-20 minutes late it is not a good sign. This will probably happen repeatedly if you decide to go ahead with the clinic for your laser treatment.

As the saying goes – first impressions last.

Being made to wait 15-30 minutes for every appointment is not very professional or respectful of your time.

  • Friendly and professional service

Also the friendliness, professionalism and attentiveness of the staff is important. Are they focused on you?, listening to your needs and concerns?. Are you made to feel comfortable or is their focus on selling you packages and extra treatments you don’t need?. Do you feel rushed?.

high quality service locations

  • Surroundings

The clinic should also be impeccably clean and modern. This should go without saying!. If you notice it is a bit drab and dated, in need of refurbishment and they are using older technology, it may be a sign the clinic is in trouble.

Would you trust paying thousands in advance when you don’t know if it will be operating next month and you lose your money?.

This is where your research will kick in. Knowing how long the clinic has operated for, levels of cleanliness and recent investment in technology can all be reassuring signs.

Finally, if you have found a clinic you believe would do a great job you will want to pay a fair price.

5.Prices v service

Going for the cheapest option will mean the clinic has had to cut corners somewhere. It could be with investment in technology or with small details like saving costs by using baby wipes instead of using high quality medical wipes. Maybe insurance or an up to date epi pen in case of an emergency are missing.

These short cuts may put you at risk or at the very least means you will not receive the highest quality treatment available.

Most people are happy to pay a fair price for good quality treatment and understand that cheap will often mean short cuts being taken.

  • Price match & finance

If you are shopping around some clinics are happy to price match. At Premier Laser we price match against other clinics.

Lots of clinics have one price online, to attract you, but when you attend a consultation the price will be much higher.

Also many clinics offer finance and attractive payment plans which may be important to you so is worth fully exploring you options.

money v service levels picture

takeaway

We hope this will help you find the best laser hair removal service for you. There are many factors to consider other then just the price.  We hope this will help you find the right service provider for you.

It is important you start your laser hair removal journey knowing you have made the best decision possible and not ending up disappointed and out of pocket after your treatment.
