With full body laser hair removal costing thousands of pounds, it’s worth taking a few minutes to read through this guide so you can make the right choice and get the best results when you are ready to go ahead.

How Much Is Full Body Laser Hair Removal ?

When laser hair removal first came to the UK in the late 1990’s a full body laser hair removal treatment cost thousands of pounds. Prices of over £5,000 were commonplace. Since then the price has dropped and technology has improved which make it a great time to start laser treatment.

In 2020 the average cost of full body laser hair removal ranges from £2,000 to £3,000 pounds (see table below). Some clinics include the head while others do not.  Other clinics use the latest equipment while some use cheaper lasers. This makes it difficult to compare full body laser hair removal packages when just looking at the price alone.

Making a decision based just on the price may lead to you being unhappy with your results and could cost you more in the long run.

Why Is Full Body Laser Hair Removal Expensive?

The main cost for a full body laser hair removal is the cost of the practitioner, the time taken and business expenses like rent, salaries and technology.

If a clinic is located in a prestigious London location and uses top of the range laser machines, this cost will be reflected in the price.

If a clinic is located at the end of a local high street using cheaper non branded lasers then the price for a full body laser hair removal treatment would be cheaper.

The latest Candela and Cynosure Laser hair removal machines can cost over £100,000. Service and maintenance costs plus replacement heads, insurance and accessories also add to the costs.

Avoid cheap laser clinics

This cost will be reflected in the price you pay. These two top brands are used by most well known reputable clinics in London, like Premier Laser. They are FDA approved and have passed strict testing in the USA and are medical grade 4 which means they are same powerful lasers used in hospitals.

Not all lasers are the same, laser machines can be bought cheaply online and although their standards are improving, they will not be FDA approved not perform as well.

If your clinic is using unbranded machines that are not FDA approved be very careful, despite the reassurances the clinic may give you.

A quality service and experience in any business cannot be bought to you at a cheap price, and a cheap price can not bring you a quality service and experience.

laser hair removal for men

Full Body Laser Hair Removal For Men costs more then women

Full body laser for men tends to cost 10-15% more then for the same treatment for women This is due to the larger body area that generally needs to be covered for men. It takes longer to perform so a higher rate is charged by clinics due to the increased time factor.

The average cost for a full body laser hair removal package for men in London will cost between £2400 – £3500.

How Long Does Full Body Laser Hair Removal Last, how much are top up sessions?

If you have completed your laser hair package of 6 – 8 treatments, stuck to your scheduled appointments and followed practitioner advice then you should have up to a 90% reduction in hair growth. You may need top up sessions which can vary from 1 a year or every e years.

Laser hair removal will not remove 100% of your hair forever but a 90% reduction is dramatic and life changing for many.

If you notice hair growing back you can go back for a top-up or touch-up session once or twice a year. Compare this with the non-stop cycle of shaving or waxing. Although not as expensive initially as laser the costs, time spent and inconvenience add up over the course of your lifetime.

Results also vary depending on individuals. Someone may only need 4  sessions to see hair removed completely whereas other people may need 10-14 sessions to experience the same results.

That is why it is really important to choose the right clinic with the best technology and experienced practitioners, who will work with you to ensure you get the best results.

laser hair removal

How Many Laser Treatments Are Needed For A Full Body?

Results are noticeable after your very first session. Lasers can only destroy hairs in the growth phase of the hair cycle. That is why appointments are spread apart so that all hairs will eventually be destroyed.

Laser hair removal can work for some people with only four sessions. But the majority of people will need at least 8 sessions spread out every six weeks.

Being consistent will impact the outcome too. If you are constantly rescheduling appointments this will disrupt your treatment. Hormone levels, skin type and tone will affect the results and you may need more then 10 sessions to get the results you are after.

Most clinics offer 8 sessions and this will go all or some way to permanently reducing your hair growth.

how much is laser hair removal

Is It Worth Getting Laser Hair Removal?

If you are seriously considering full body laser hair removal you should weigh this up against the cost of not having it done.

Add up how much you spend on razors or bikini wax sessions over your lifetime and it will probably be more then laser hair removal.

If you think of laser hair removal as a beauty investment in yourself, not only will you be saving money in the long run, you don’t have to spend the time, have the inconvenience and worry about hair removal whether it be your legs, face or bikini.

Does Full Body Laser Hair Removal Hurt?

When having laser hair removal over your whole body, some areas will be more sensitive then others. Some people are more sensitive to laser then others.

All reputable clinics will carry out a test with the laser on your skin. This is called a patch test and involves testing the laser on various parts of your body to see how you respond.

You will then have to wait a minimum of 24 hours before you can start your treatment. If a clinic does not require you to wait then you could end up with serious burns, avoid these clinics at all costs.

The general feedback is that laser hair removal hurts less than waxing and is often compared to being snapped by a rubber band. Again some people tolerate pain better then others.

Coolsculpting Comes To Premier Laser

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]If you have been thinking about tackling those hard to shift fat areas on your body you will be pleased to know that Coolsculpting is now available at our Liverpool Street Clinic in London and will be available at our, soon to be opened, clinic in Bromley, Kent.

To celebrate the launch of Coolsculpting at our Liverpool Street clinic we have a fantastic introductory offer (making us one of the lowest-priced Coolsculpting providers across London). Our introductory offer will not stay low for long, so it is a great time to take advantage of our incredible offer and book a free consultation today.

With prices starting from only £300 (which is currently over 10% lower then other clinics) the savings will soon add up. £300 is calculated on buying multiple sessions.

We have offered fat freezing for many years using the highly-rated Swiss technology by Clatuu, and by adding Coolsculpting to our fat freezing and fat removal line-up we are now able to bring you the most popular brand on the market today.

If you haven’t heard about Coolsculpting before and want to find out more visit our Coolsculpting page which has lots of great information, videos and FAQs explaining exactly how it works.

If you are familiar with Coolsculpting maybe via friends and family, social media, magazines or online you probably know fat freezing is one of the safest, proven, most effective non-invasive ways to remove stubborn fat.

Non-invasive means there is no surgery involved. No staying overnight in hospital or going under general anaesthetic, which makes it very different from liposuction.

Liposuction is:

A lot riskier as it is invasive surgery
Requires anaesthesia
There are risks from infection.

Coolsculpting is most effective if you have hard to shift fat. And most of us do!. We can sometimes feel very self-conscious about excess fat on parts of our body even trying to cover up the offending areas, which can get harder during summer!.

Also even if we lead a healthy lifestyle, getting older can lead to fat going to areas where we didn’t use to have fat and as your metabolic rate slows down as you age your body stores more fat. You may also be trying to bounce back into shape after giving birth and need a helping hand.

If you have tried everything to remove stubborn fat through exercising or the latest diet and are not looking as good as you feel, or have recently been bothered by a selfie or have a special occasion coming up, then Coolsculpting maybe something to seriously consider.

You might even know somebody who has tried it and were really happy with their results or maybe it’s a good time financially to go ahead. More and more people are now turning to Coolsculpting to shape and contour their bodies to the proportions and way they want.

Coolsculpting is not a miracle weight loss cure. You won’t lose tens of kilos on the scales. It’s not for you if you are obese. There is up to a 30% loss of fat in the areas undergoing Coolsculpting.

This can make the difference between:

Feeling comfortable in your jeans
Defined in your suit and confident at work
Confident on the beach on holiday
Happy in shorts and skirts
Feeling elegant with your hair up – or down
Looking sophisticated in a dress
Inspired in athletic wear at the gym, yoga or sporting activities
Being carefree in sleeveless clothes

Whatever look you want to achieve, with the targeted options that Coolsculpting provides you can really define your body the way you want. The effects of fat freezing are more subtle and it is ideal if you want to target specific areas like your arms or ‘bingo wings’, double chin, thighs or ‘saddlebags’, ‘mummy tummy’ or your ‘muffin top’.

The secret to Coolsculptings success versus dieting is Coolsculpting actually destroys, kills and removes the fat from your body. (Fat is destroyed then removed via your Lymphatic system over the weeks following a session). Dieting will only shrink fat cells which expand again if you put on weight.

Also Coolsculpting doesn’t offer instant overnight results. You won’t wake up the next morning with all the weight magically having vanished. Results are noticeable around four weeks after treatment and you still have to maintain a healthy lifestyle with exercise and eating well. If you pile on the pounds after Coolsculpting you will not notice any results and would have wasted your money!.

A lot of people see Coolsculpting as a great way to stay motivated with diets and exercise. If you invest in Coolsculpting then you probably won’t be skipping exercise classes or having one too many cheat days!.
Finally, Coolsculpting is an FDA approved medical procedure which means it has undergone very strict testing. And with over 7 million treatments performed worldwide so far it is becoming increasingly popular around the world.

To take advantage of our introductory price why not book a free consultation today and speak to our practitioners about getting Coolsculpting to work for you.

If you have any questions about Coolsculpting you can email us via our contact page or pick up the phone and call our call centre which is open 7 days a week for you.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

Laser hair removal in Harley Street – is it worth it ?

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

Laser hair removal in Harley street – is it worth it ?

Laser hair removal in Harley street will cost you more then anywhere else in the UK. You may be wondering :

“Is it worth paying a lot more for laser hair removal at a prestigious Harley street address then a high street clinic?”

Harley street reputation

Harley Street, named after Thomas Harley who was Lord Mayor of London in 1767, has a well deserved worldwide reputation for medical excellence.

Located in Marylebone, Central London, it has, since the 19th century, became famous for the high concentration of a large number of private doctors, consultants and specialists in medicine and surgery.

Over 3,000 people are employed in the Harley Street area. Working in clinics, hospitals, medical and paramedical practices offering everything from laser hair removal to lip fillers to life saving surgery.

harley street w1Laser hair removal Harley street prices

Given the explosion of popularity of laser hair removal over the last few years and the fact lasers now provide excellent results on both lighter and dark skin tones with its dual wavelength technology, more clinics have added laser hair removal to their services.

You can expect to pay around 30-80% more by having laser hair removal at a Harley Street clinic. Many clinics will not publish their laser hair removal prices online, making comparing prices difficult. You will have call the clinic or book an appointment before prices are revealed.

Lots of clinics performing laser hair removal on Harley Street also perform more expensive invasive surgical procedures. Laser is not seen as a major revenue generator or core part of their business, just a handy add.

Full body laser hair removal prices on Harley street

Full body laser hair removal can cost around £3,500 on Harley Street. This is a lot more then you would pay at clinic not on Harley Street where prices for full body laser hair removal are between £2000-£2600.

If you are thinking about using a Harley Street clinic and you do not live close by then there will be the added cost of travelling to the clinic.

Driving would be difficult due to lack of parking and Harley Street is inside the congestion zone. Then there is the cost of your time travelling to consider.

If you purchase a laser hair removal package, it could mean you will be travelling there 8 times every 6 weeks. This will add up. Will it be worth the extra cost and potential inconvenience of travelling there?

Will you get better results going to a Harley street clinic for laser hair removal?

Ultimately results are what matter. Clinics in Harley Street use the same Lasers as high street clinics. The top brands used for laser hair removal are US manufactured Candela and Cynosure. They are FDA approved Grade 4 lasers, the same used in hospitals, costing around £100,000 each.

Harley Street clinics do not have access to better technology or lasers which would lead to better results to explain the higher price.

laser hair removal practitionerBetter practitioners at Harley Street ?

If the technology is the same, will the practitioners be more experienced?, guaranteeing you better results and justifying the higher price?

It is unlikely laser hair removal will be performed by a Doctor when you visit a Harley Street clinic. It will be usually be performed by a laser hair practitioner, the same as you would find away from Harley Street.

Unless you find a laser clinic on Harley Street specialising in laser hair removal,  the practitioner may not be as experienced as you may think or find away from Harley Street, in a specialist laser clinic. This is because they may perform laser hair removal as well as many other aesthetic procedures during a typical day.

Compare this with a practitioner at a dedicated laser clinic who only does laser hair treatments all day. They will have far more experience with clients from all backgrounds, ages, skin types and tones so you would be in safer hands and experience better results.

If the technology is the same, the practitioners are no better then you would find elsewhere and you are not guaranteed better results, why does laser hair removal at a Harley Street clinic cost more?.

The real reason Harley street costs more

The higher treatment price is mainly due to the higher expenses of running a business from the prestigious Harley Street address. Not the fact better technology or more highly trained practitioners are used.

To operate a clinic on Harley Street will cost a lot more then other locations such as high streets. Rent and rates make up one of the biggest costs when operating a clinic. So you are paying a premium for the W1 postcode and street name which then is reflected in the prices charged.

Many clinics on Harley Street are not at the street level and you may have to go up many floors to find a small, dark, windowless clinic tucked away. This is to reduce costs, while keeping the famous Harley Street address which clinics believe allows them to charge more.

harley street clinic How to get the best laser hair removal results

With laser hair removal, great results are based on internal and external factors. Internal factors include how your body responds including hormone levels, skin type and tone. These are usually beyond your control.

External factors, which you can control, can be spilt into 3 parts. For the best laser hair removal results you will need the following :

  • Top of the range technology
  • Experienced practitioners
  • Consistency, commitment and good communication with your practitioner

The secret to laser hair removal success depends the best technology, best practitioners and being committed and consistent with the treatment. This means not missing or cancelling appointments and communicating feedback to the practitioner performing the laser hair and following the advice given.

If you are unable to commit to the course of treatment you will not get great results, even at the best laser hair removal clinic in Harley Street.

If any of the above are missing you will likely end up disappointed, regardless of the cost or where you had it done, whether it was Harley Street or Harrow!

Harley Street v high street

Laser hair removal has become an extremely competitive market recently with fierce expansion by Irish and Australian laser hair removal franchises opening across London and the UK.

They have avoided opening Harley Street and instead target local high streets and shopping centres.

Outside of Harley Street you will also come across the larger clinic chains like Premier Laser. With 9 clinics across London and operating with exactly the same state of the art technology as Harley Street clinics and with highly experienced practitioners Premier charge in some cases less then half of what you would pay in Harley Street.

In conclusion

Do you really need to go to Harley Street to get better laser hair removal results?. The short answer is no. You are probably better served by a reputable clinic close by. The final choice of course is yours. Some people enjoy saying they are visiting a Harley Street clinic or believe they may receive a more personal service, higher quality service in W1.

For most people though, if you can get the same results, or better, on your high street while saving hundreds of pounds and not have the inconvenience, cost and hassle of travelling far for treatments, most people would think this is a great option.

If you are thinking about laser hair removal, Premier Laser is London’s largest independent laser hair removal specialist. With 9 locations across London open 7 days a week, open late weekdays, why not speak to us today about starting your laser hair removal.

My laser hair removal experiences as a university student in London

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]A lot of women (and some men!) dream of smooth and hairless skin – I’m no different!.

I am an overseas student living and studying at a London University. I have also been working in the nail and eyelash industry and have high standards when it comes to my own appearance, so excess and visible hair simply cannot exist on my skin!.

(Prices have come down so it’s more affordable for uni students to get laser hair removal and many clinics offer student discounts making it cheaper)

With so many aesthetic, beauty and laser hair removal clinics available in London offering laser hair removal there has never been a better time to get rid of excess hair.

But which one should you choose?.

I previously had laser hair removal done for my underarms, arms, and legs when back home in my country. But after moving to the UK for a few years, I discovered that my facial hair had become more visible, especially hair on my upper lip.

Many people said it could be the problem of hard water encouraging hair growth but I’m not so sure. Whatever the reason I just wanted it gone.

So I decided to go for the upper lip and bikini laser hair removal. Bikini laser hair removal is also very popular, I can totally understand why just thinking of all the time, money and pain I went through with waxing all those years!.

How I choose the skin clinic for my laser hair removal

Since I had very successful laser hair removal results using by Candela in my home country i wanted to find a clinic in London using them.

I did a Google search and came across Premier Laser & Skin. After digging around for more information about this clinic I found out :

  • The clinic was established in 2008
  • Has 11 years experience in laser hair
  • Also provides skin management, body slimming & contouring, anti-ageing and filler injections.
  • They have nine clinics located in London.
  • They use the Candela Gentle Max Pro machine, the latest model and technology for laser hair removal.
  • They treated more than 500,000 customers
  • Suitable for different races, all skin types and colours.
  • Many celebrities favour to this clinic such as Anne Marie, Maya Jama and many more
  • Another good point is that this company provides various language services, so there is no need to worry about the language barrier.

Price of Laser Hair Removal for students

As a student it was important that the price was right. Looking at the price again, I found out the cost of Premier Laser & Skin stood out from other clinics in my area.

For example –

For my upper lip and bikini areas, six sessions are 522 pounds, and eight sessions are 580 pounds. The other clinics I searched use the same machine, the price for the same skin areas was 596 pounds for four sessions and 1008 pounds for eight sessions.

Why I choose Premier Laser for my laser hair removal

So I chose Premier Laser & Skin due to their competitive price, a large amount of experience and accessible location. I also booked a consultation and treatments for fat reduction and filler injection for chin contouring. I plan having them done together and get ready for summer.

Free consultation and patch test

I made an online enquiry late night and next day morning I received a appointment for free consultations and patch test.

On the day, I arrived at the clinic about 10 minutes in advance. The clinic was in Liverpool St. in the City of London which was only a 12-minute walk from where I live.

The face-to-face consultation process was very smooth. Firstly I was given a medical form to fill in in order to check my suitability, the laser practitioner then explained how laser hair removal treatment works, checked my skin type and areas need to be treated, answered all my strange questions, followed by doing few patch tests on my upper lip and bikini areas. She explained that laser patch test is a must.

If there is no adverse reaction 48 hours post patch test, I will be totally safe to have the full skin lasered.

How laser hair removal works

She explained the science part that laser light energy is absorbed by melanin which gives hair colour, energy will be transmitted to hair root and destroy it, therefore making the hair lose its ability to regenerate without harming other skin tissues which due to my research I had a rough idea about.

How to prepare for a laser hair appointment

I was told that hair needed to be shaved the night before my appointment. This is to make sure laser energy can focus on killing hair root rather than burn hair shift which can be shaved.

She confirmed I cannot use depilatory cream as chemicals will cause skin sensitivity, no plucking and waxing either as the hair root needed to stay so the laser can permanently kill it.

I booked my next full treatment appointment before I left the clinic.

What happens during a Laser hair removal

Following my laser practitioner’s instructions, I shaved my lip hair and bikini hair at home the night before my appointment and came to the clinic 10 minutes earlier.

After being registered with the front desk, I had some refreshments in the waiting area, my practitioner introduced themselves and said hello and took me to the laser treatment room.

I lay down on couch comfortably, she checked my skin and asked few questions, I was given laser protection goggles to wear. She cleaned my skin first, then drew guidelines with white pencil on where I want to be treated,

She explained this was especially important for Bikini areas, so both sides can be treated precisely and symmetrically.

After the first laser pulse, she asked for my feedback, it was ok so she carried on and finished all treatment in about 30 minutes.

Does laser hair removal hurt?

My skin looked red, similar redness as after waxing.

It felt like someone was flicking an elastic band on my skin accompanied by a burst of cool air but it much easier than waxing!. After finishing lasering, my practitioner applied cold aloe vera gel to sooth the skin and to calm down the redness.

What is the aftercare following laser hair removal?

After I got dressed, my practitioner reminded me again of the home care process and handed me a paper copy. It listed:

  • To avoid hot shower and bathing for 48 hours (but lukewarm water is fine)
  • No swimming and sweating excise for 48 hours.
  • To avoid getting a suntan during the course of treatments
  • Using sunscreen SPF50 every day on my face.

I booked my 2nd laser hair removal appointment before I left clinic.

My Laser Hair Removal Results after one treatment

I bought a package of  8 sessions treatments.

  • After 1st session: I can see the reduction and much slower of regrowth. I only need to shave every week rather than every 3 days previously.

My Laser Hair Removal Results after four treatments

  • After 4th session: I don’t need to shave anymore, the regrowth is much less, finer and even more slower.
  • My bikini hair is particularly effective,

My final thoughts

I have fallen in love with my hairless skin!. I will continue to do the remaining 4 sessions according to the recommendation, and look forward to even better results.

How do you get ingrown hairs?

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Everybody at some point in their life will experience ingrown hairs. They can be annoying, sometimes painful and if they swell up and become tender are not nice to look at to put it mildly.

Ingrown hairs happen when the hair curls round and grows back into the skin. That’s it. That’s all it takes. After the hair curls round and grows back it may produce raised red spots which can sometimes become infected resulting into painful pus-filled sores, which many of us would have experienced at least once in our lives.

They mostly appear where you have shaved or waxed. Common areas are the beard, legs, armpits and pubic region but they can suddenly appear anywhere on both men and women.

laser hair removal bear before

Ingrown hairs can be serious

Ingrown hairs can seem trivial to many, but did you know some people have actually been hospitalised because of serious bacterial infections due to an ingrown hair? Leading to parts of the body tissue being removed because of infection. So no laughing matter.

If your ingrown hair is on your face, it can be very distressing. However, you no longer need to suffer in silence. Laser hair removal can now be used to treat ingrown hairs. Laser hair removal is an innovative technology that uses very fine lasers to beam a high concentrated light into the skin, which can remove hair at its root and solving the ingrown hair problem. The technology has been around for over twenty years and is tried and tested so if ingrown hairs are getting you down speak to someone that can help.

What causes ingrown hairs?

Although anyone can get ingrown hairs they can be more of a problem for people with :

  • Curly hair
  • Coarse or thick hair
  • Wirey hair
  • If hairs become broken off
  • If hairs are left uneven with sharp tips
  • For people who shave or wax
  • If you wear tight clothing

A main cause also tends to be an accumulation of dead skin cells blocking the follicle and changing the angle at which hair grows. Shaved hairs are coarser and sharper too, so much more likely to re-enter the skin.  This has turned many people towards investigating laser hair removal as a solution to ingrown hairs, looking to switch to laser hair and ditching the razor!.

If your ingrown hairs persist not only can they  become infected, they can darken the skin and leave behind scars.

Word of warning if you have woken up to an ingrown hair, try not to scratch or pick the area because bacteria from your finger and fingernails could spread bacteria deeper into the area.

Advice if you have an ingrown hair

If you have ever had ingrown hairs you know they can be can be itchy and embarrassing. A lot of the time they will go away on their own without any intervention.

Preventing ingrown hairs

Avoiding shaving to prevent ingrown hairs would be one solution – but not very practical. Especially for men who are used to being clean shaven suddenly growing a beard is not an option. That is again where laser hair removal could come into play.

There are a few things that you can do to try and prevent ingrown hairs in the future.

  • Don’t shave as soon as you go into the shower. Let your pores open fully because If you start shaving early when your skin is colder then there is more risk of nicks and ingrown hairs.
  • Don’t ever shave without soap or gel and always use a good quality product specially designed for the task in hand.
  • Make sure your shaving technique goes in the direction of hair growth and not against.
  • Use a good quality shaving moisturiser gel rather then a shaving cream
  • Use a fresh razor either single blade razor or multiple blade.

Laser Hair Removal is one solution for ingrown hairs. It works by targeting and destroying the hair and weakens the hair follicles their ability to produce hairs long-term.

Laser hair removal will not work on white, red or light blonde hair and works best on dark, coarse hair which are the types to suffer more ingrown hairs then people with lighter, fairer and thinner hair.

Some blonde hair can be treated so if you have blonde hair and are not sure you can always speak to a practitioner and have a patch test during a free consultation that many clinics offer.

The good news is that laser treatment for ingrown hairs works very fast.  It is a proven, effective and safe method to prevent ingrown hairs and from them coming back.

If you are currently suffering from ingrown hairs – you can fight back against them.  There are also some practical everyday steps that you can take to lower the risk of getting ingrown hairs in the first place.

Exfoliation

Often ingrown hair occur because there is a build up of dead skin cells. The dead skin cells cause a blockage that prevents the hair from growing properly and causes the hair to bend as it grows as previously highlighted.

We’ve always been told that prevention is better then cure so the most effective way of preventing them in the first place is to exfoliate the skin properly.

Removing dead skin cells will reduce the chances of ingrown hairs growing in the first place making it a great way to keep ahead ingrown hairs.

How to exfoliate to prevent ingrown hairs.

If you have never exfoliated before then the best way to start by using a cotton flannel and warm water. Things like loofahs are breeding ground for germs so use a cotton flannel that can be thrown into the washing machine after every use.

Gently scrub your face in a circular motion and avoid the eyes as the skin there is very thin. For the rest of your body you can dry scrub your body with a dry brush – you can oil your body before beginning brushing and then jump in the shower and use salts to slough of all debris.

How to remove ingrown hairs

If you are suffering from ingrown hairs and desperately want to remove them, here is a quick tip to remove them before they get inflamed. Firstly you will need to bring them to the surface of the skin.

The trick is to remember that they’re very similar to pimples. They’re prone to infection too so always ensure your hands are clean!

One way of doing this is to use hot a compressor with tweezers. Using a clean cloth soak it in hot water and then press it against the affected area.  To really soften the area leave it pressed against your skin for a few minutes.

This should then cause the hair to be more flexible and come to the to surface, and then you can remove it fairly easy with tweezers – make sure the tweezers are sterilised first though!. This can be done by soaking them in boiling water.

A dab of antiseptic cream will discourage germs from making things worse.

Laser Hair Removal processTweezers and Aloe Vera – your new best friend

Having a good pair of tweezers in your bathroom and Aloe Vera gel in your fridge are the perfect combo for tackling your irritating ingrown hairs.

Make sure they are sterilised before they go anywhere you face or body. Also get a good grip of the hair and don’t try to dig around for the hair as this will aggravate and inflame the area further and could lead to an infection.

Applying Aloe Vera gel twice a day can work wonders. If you keep it in the fridge the cold sensation will bring instant relief. It has long been known that Aloe Vera is particularly good for burns and skin problems with great preventative properties too.

Salicylic acid for ingrown hairs

If your ingrown hairs are quite bad and pus-filled then maybe you may need to medicate. Aspirin contains salicylic acid which can be used to combat ingrown hairs. If you crush the Aspirin and combine it with oil and apply it over the ingrown hair this will go to work and tackle the problem area. It is a cheap effective solution as aspirin is widely available and can cost as little as twenty pence a pack.

Benzoyl peroxide for ingrown hairs

This is actually an acne medication but can also alleviate infected areas such as ingrown hair that have become pus-filled as they then become much like spots. The result should be that swelling should go down and they will become much less painful.

Benzoyl peroxide is available from chemists in gel or cream form. It is very strong and has bleaching properties so be careful when your using it as it is concentrated – also make sure you don’t get it on your clothes.

As ever with applying creams and medications speak to your skin consultant or a qualified dermatologist before applying anything to your skin.

Fed up of ingrown hairs and are thinking about laser hair removal ?

This is a very quick procedure and for many people, they feel no pain or discomfort at all. Some people report that it feels like an elastic band snapping against the skin, and nothing more. So definitely worth the ‘pain’ and effort.

You can have laser hair removal at any time of the year but many laser hair removal clinics recommend that you have laser hair removal on your ingrown hair during the winter months.

This is because skin is less tanned and easier to work with as there is less sunlight around also so that you can be ready for the summer months.

Typically depending on what are you are having treated you would need to have a few sessions to make sure that all the hairs are destroyed as one visit to the clinic will not destroy all the hairs.

To prepare, you should not have recently been in the sun or have a fake tan because the laser will not be able to tell the between what is skin and what is hair if the skin is too dark; so avoid sun beds before the treatment.

If you have any concerns about your ingrown hair, contact a reputable professional laser hair removal clinic who you will be able to give you honest and free advice.

Embarrassing Laser Hair Removal | How To Survive The Brazilian!

Getting embarrassed about having laser hair removal on your Brazilian area is perfectly normal. It can be a bit intimidating visiting a clinic, undressing and letting a complete stranger get up close and personal with you. It is a bit like going to the doctor or your gynaecologist knowing that you will have to take your clothes off at some point and dreading it.

The good news is you will not be the first person your laser hair removal practitioner will have performed laser hair removal in intimate areas on. Whether it’s a Brazilian, bikini, full Hollywood or perianal (the bit between you bum) it’s just another day at the office for an experienced laser practitioner.

They have seen everything, done everything, answered the strangest questions and heard bizarre requests from their clients and handled it all with the utmost professionalism and usually with a smile on their face. But knowing this still doesn’t make it any easier for you.

If you are a little bit self conscious about your body, and let’s face it, who isn’t, we will go over some tips to help you if you are thinking about getting laser hair removal in embarrassing areas.

If you are self conscious over your hair or the shape of your body, your laser hair practitioner would have seen it all before. If you think you are quite hairy they would always have treated someone a lot hairier then you! Plus after your first session when you return 6-8 weeks later there will be less hair because of the hair removed from your first session.BRAZILIAN LASER TREATMENT

Also don’t forget that for each laser hair session, you have to prepare by shaving the area the night before, so you don’t have to worry about the practitioner seeing you at your hairiest.

Where to start…

Firstly, start with a reputable clinic (yes, like ours). At Premier Laser, we have 8 locations across London. We treat hundreds of people a week and have been doing so for over 12 weeks. So that’s a lot of laser, so without sounding too big headed, we’re quite good at it.

Our most popular package is they full body, which means FULL body, so you practitioner will be greatly experienced.

Women can choose a number of styles down below and the three to choose from which often get mixed up are:

  • Brazilian – Landing strip styled – no hair on either side
  • Bikini – Around the bikini area so upper thighs and side of bikini
  • Hollywood – Everything, everywhere off!

With the bikini and Brazilian you don’t have to remove your underwear completely. With the Hollywood you do. A towel is provided so you are never full exposed. Only the areas being lasered are briefly revealed for lasering.

Hopefully that should come as a relief if you were thinking you turn up at the clinic and immediately have to undress. You don’t.

Tips for making you Brazilian laser treatment less embarrassing

If you have purchased a package of 6-8 treatments, clinics usually try and keep the same practitioner for your treatment. Make sure you ask for this and they are aware of your preference. You are the customer and whatever you want should be granted.

Having 8 sessions with 8 different practitioners would not be good for the clinic or you. It will just  add to your stress levels which you want to avoid.

Some of our clients request an older practitioner as they feel more comfortable with someone older and experienced. If you are in your twenties and are not comfortable having someone in their twenties or younger performing your laser hair removal, ask your clinic who is available and request the most experienced or senior technician.

At Premier Laser we don’t employ technicians straight from beauty school. They must have at least three years experience. So you won’t have a technician who is still learning, is more likely to make mistakes and will take longer then an experienced technician.

As mentioned for Brazilian or Bikini your laser technician will provide you with a towel in order to cover areas that aren’t being treated. The whole process only takes a few minutes, so you won’t feel too exposed.

You can always strike up a conversation with your practitioner or listen to music on your phone. Because practitioners work with clients everyday most enjoy nothing more then talking to their clients and catching up on their lives and a juicy bit of gossip between treatments.

Will laser hair removal get less embarrassing?

Once you get over the fear of your first session it should get easier for you. If your clinic has helped you with any requests you may have made after reading the above, your remaining sessions should be a breeze.
