Efficiency of Hair Removal Techniques

When you are struggling with unwanted or embarrassing excess hair, there are a variety of options to consider. Should you pluck and tweeze? Wax? Try laser hair removal or IPL? It can be confusing. All you know is that you want it gone! Let’s take a look at some of the most common techniques so you can choose the option that works best for you.

Waxing

Waxing delivers smooth skin that lasts much longer than shaving (and you can cut down dramatically on your shower time!). It’s also good for those hard-to-reach areas, such as your bikini line.

However, there’s a small problem. It hurts! Even when done by a trained professional, there is pain associated with ripping hair off your skin. Another issue, the hair regrows. While it’s slower than with shaving, it will certainly come back, and often with in-grown hairs.

IPL

Intense pulsed light, or IPL, is a form of light therapy that can be used for hair removal, among other issues. This technique emits a wavelength into the skin that targets the pigment. When the pigment absorbs the light, the resulting heat kills the hair’s cells.

Unlike laser (which we’ll discuss in a moment), IPL produces multiple wavelengths. The light is more diffused, and thus less powerful. IPL for hair removal is typically only effective on those with fair skin and dark hair.

While IPL is effective for other skin conditions, such as treating visible blood vessels, it is not an optimal solution for hair removal.

Laser

Laser hair removal works in much the same way as IPL. But where IPL produces multiple wavelengths, laser’s have just one. This concentrated light is more powerful, and it targets hair cells more effectively and accurately. Trained specialists, for example, can adjust the wavelength to treat hair of varying shades on skin of varying shades.

Laser hair removal is also far less uncomfortable than IPL. Intense pulsed light essentially heats the skin, and it can cause pain during the procedure. Today’s laser techniques are virtually pain-free, and your downtime is minimal. After a complete course of six to eight treatments, you will see a permanent reduction in unwanted hair.

We recommend laser hair removal to help you achieve your goals. Schedule a consultation to learn more.

The Laser Hair Removal Process

Unwanted hair can sometimes effects ones confidence. You may feel you have to hide away under layers of clothing or may even shy away from social situations. If you have tried everything from waxing and depilatories to bleaching and tweezing, you may despair of an effective – and permanent – solution. Laser hair removal is the solution for which you have been looking.

Can Laser Hair Removal Help Me?

Yes! While our expert team will always conduct a patch test to ensure you will receive the optimal, safe, results you need, laser hair removal is appropriate for all skin types. The treatment works to remove unwanted hair anywhere on your body, including: eyebrows, upper lip, chin, jaw, back, shoulders, legs and bikini line.

What Can I Expect?

As mentioned, you’ll have an initial consultation to discuss your needs and goals. You’ll have the patch test, and your specialist will advise you to avoid plucking or waxing for six weeks prior to your session. This is because this technique targets the roots of the hair, which may be temporarily eliminated with these removal techniques.

During your treatment, a laser hair removal specialist simply cleanses and shaves the target area. Then, a laser is applied to the skin. You might feel a tingling sensation, but we’ll take care of that with some soothing aloe gel.

Laser hair removal is a fast option: if the target area is small (e.g. upper lip), it may only take five minutes. If it’s a larger area (e.g. back), it may take up to an hour. But either way, downtime is virtually nonexistent,

We recommend a course of six to nine treatments for permanent reduction of unwanted hair. After your first session, you can usually have another within six weeks. Your specialist will recommend the best course of action for you and your skin.

What is Sublative Radiofrequency?

Sublative radiofrequency. For many this will sound like jargon, but in this blog we will uncover what this great treatment does.  It’s an effective solution for ageing, loose, sagging, scarred and/or uneven skin.

Results without Damage

Sometimes, procedures intended to treat the skin cause damage that can exacerbate the issues you originally wanted to address. Fraxel and Titan, for example, are laser treatments that work by overheating the top layer of skin, causing unnecessary trauma. These aggressive techniques can leave you dissatisfied with results and the experience as a whole.

Sublative radiofrequency is different. Instead of lasers, it utilises advanced radiofrequency technology. This targets the layers below the surface to stimulate cell regrowth. Essentially, it works from the inside out.

Inside Out

So, what goes on underneath the surface that makes sublative radiofrequency so effective? Fractionated bipolar radiofrequency energy is applied via a handheld device to the skin in a series of grid-like patterns. This triggers an accelerated healing process in the targeted skin, and your body naturally begins to produce collagen. New, healthy, skin cells start to generate.

One of the first questions people have is, is it painful? No. Sublative rejuvenation is a comfortable procedure, and you will be done within about 30 minutes. Within just days, you will see visible results.

Can Sublative Radiofrequency Help Me?

This technology is safe and effective for all skin types. It addresses the following issues:

  • Brown spots.
  • Age-related textural irregularities.
  • Acne scarring.
  • Skin laxity and sagging.

The result is smooth, firm skin that looks and feels its best.

Previously, people could only expect these type of results with surgery. No more. You do not have to go under the knife to look and feel your best. Schedule your consultation with our expert team today.
